Gender bender

More gender bending from yours truly~

I like to use makeup to make myself look more masculine. Don't ask why, I just feel good when I do it. I've done it a few times but something just feels... wrong? I've gotten better since the first time I tried it, but I don't feel like I look "masculine". I've sent pictures to my friend and she said it looked good, but I can't help but see my normal, "feminine" self past all the makeup. It's hard to explain, but the best comparison I can think of is how we're all our own toughest critics. Like if you drew something, other people would compliment it, but the slightest flaws that no one else would notice will be magnified to you.

Enough of that little tangent. Here are the pictures!

Crazy eyes hehe

Ok this one gotta be my favorite picture I got. (Not me referencing a character that gives me gender envy oop-)

This one is just a silly picture... the hair tie was the thin enough to fit in the gap between my front two teeth, which I found funny.

Ah yes, it looks like I haven't slept in days. That tends to be the aesthetic I go for when I present masc. I'm usually hesitant to go heavy with black under my eyes, but my main inspiration today was L from Death Note (another gender envy character) and this bitch got heavy black circles.

This is probably my best time doing this. One thing I didn't like when I did it in the past was my longer hair. Yes I know men can have long hair, but it's something typically associated with feminity. (And that doesn't help when I still see myself as a girl, even after masculinizing my face.) Now my hair is much shorter, which makes me feel more comfortable. (Now the problem is that it naturally curls out, which I find more feminizing when I want it to lay straight.)

Also the bangs help to cover my eyebrows which I'll admit, I'm not the best at filling in. They tend to look like blobs and the color looks off, so my bangs cover them enough to hide the imperfections but to still see thick and dark eyebrows through. They're also right on my eyes, which kinda makes me hotter.

Also also, I have a makeup brush that's specifically for angled foundation, which I use for sharp contours like the jawline, cheekbones, and nose. Before I'd have to pinch a blush brush into a flatter shape.

Critiques?
A lot of it came off by the end of the day. After I came back from my lecture class at night, I noticed all the contours were gone. Granted I didn't bother putting on any foundation (I just put the shadows straight up on my face), so the powders didn't have anything to stick to other than an oily face.

I need to figure out how to do nose contouring and just highlighting in general,  because I can't do either very well.

I don't have a true contour or highlight palette, so I have to make do with what I have. I'd like to invest in these at some point though. I think it would look more put together if I had the actual products.

I'd love to post these pictures on my insta but my mom follows me on my account (which she unfortunately found out about) and I don't need her to see these. That's a whole story in and of itself, I'll have to explain that in another chapter.
