I schooled my younger sister on how to pronounce "açai". She was convinced it was ah-sa-yee but I said "judging by the accent on the c, it sounds French, and if the that's the case then it would be ah-sigh, unless there were the two dots on top of the i (açaï)" (which is why Noël is spelled with the ë, because otherwise it would be pronounced as "nole" and not "no-elle")
