I finally watched Detective Pikachu today. I was only a year late...

(Spoiler warning below, read at your own risk!)

It was a pretty good movie. The only thing I didn't like was how much the plot shifted around... first the guy's son (whose name I don't remember) was considered the antagonist because he didn't like Pokémon, then it was Mewtwo because he supposedly killed Tim's father (which we find out later that Mewtwo actually saved him), then it was the guy, who wanted to fuse with Mewtwo. It was hard for me to follow at times, especially towards the end with all these twists, because I'm not the best at following the plots of books and movies and such. I usually only know it enough so that it makes sense to me, but if I had to explain it to someone else, I'd have trouble explaining the plot.

That aside, it was a good movie. I liked one of the opening scenes that showed all the Pokémon in Ryme City. I love the CGI for the Pokémon, and it just made me happy to see Pokémon interacting in a live-action city. It's the closest we'll ever have to Pokémon existing in real life. It was pretty funny as well- Ryan Reynolds was a good cast for Pikachu. Speaking of, I laughed a bit when he first appeared on the screen as Tim's actual father.
