I forgot to tell you this story. This happened on Sunday at the fall festival at my sisters' school.

So I was in line with my sister and her friend to go on a bumper cars ride. I wasn't dying to go on the bumper cars (from what I've seen, they're pretty janky) but we had to use up the rest of the friend's tickets and that was the only ride we could decide on. It was close to closing time, so the worker for the ride made everyone in the line to sit in twos to try to get through as many people as possible. That meant that my sister and her friend could sit together, but I'd have to sit with some random stranger. When I gave the worker the tickets, he said "who are you sitting with?" and I said "uh I don't know" and he said that he would find someone to sit with me. I sat down in one of the bumper cars and put my sunglasses on (even though it was getting dark) and didn't look up from my phone, trying to deter people from sitting next to some rude-looking teenager.
(This is the part that my sister told me- I didn't realize that this happened- so every bumper car seat was filled except for the one next to me. The worker asked if there were any people in ride who didn't have a partner to sit with, and one lady in line didn't have a partner. The worker pointed to my car and said that she'd be sitting with me and she said "no thanks.")
So the worker walks over to me and says "You lucked out, even with your shades." And I turned to look at my sister, shock in my face.
