I waves rise and fall as I watch the sea

And within them, I see you and me.

I am the wave and you are my shore

Yet now I recede forevermore.

Time and again I reached for you

Only now do I see that it was always me

The way I did; I refused to doubt

If our friendship was strong

You've forgotten me along with your promise

The way even the shore forgets the wave's kiss.

Still, the tides approach the shore

Hoping that they could unite once more.
