Unknown
I loved you once
Not many years past
How I wished
That time would last.
I changed much
And so did you-
The things we did
Were different too.
I would cuddle with you
To hear the tales of old;
I still remember them
The way they were told.
The song you sang
To tell the tale
Is fresh on my mind
As the flowery vale.
You were a simple man
Quite overly so;
You showed your love
But we didn't know.
Years flew by
And in time I grew-
I stopped talking,
But so did you.
We lost her
And it hit you hard
But you changed so much
Like we'd flipped a card.
The seeds planted then
Soon took root;
I began hating you
And that love became mute.
You spoke to none
Even when they'd try
And that was your undoing.
No one knows why.
You were told
And you were begged to speak;
You were told, if not,
You'd die alone and weak.
You didn't listen.
You never did.
It all came true-
We'd all made the losing bid.
I miss you now
And suddenly so;
Life wasn't fair
Even when you let go.
Your both gone now
Both grandma and you
But perhaps we found it hard
To loose you too?
I never missed you.
Not until now,
But come to think of it,
I wonder, How?
How is it that
You stayed unheard?
So slow to say
Even a single word?
The secrets you kept
Were yours to own;
A pity you were lost the way you lived-
Completely unknown.
