Sleep
Tendrils tug at my weary eyes
Drawing them together
My thoughts race like a wide-eyed doe
As I bask in the pleasant weather.
The chatter around me fades away
Like the mist on a sunny morn
And in sets a droning melody
Though against it, my mind does warn.
Like the wings of a butterfly
Do my eyelids flutter close
I succumb to my greatest desire
Like the bee does to the rose.
Like a gentle breeze it greets me,
The peaceful calm of sleep;
I forget myself in the land of dreams
Cocooned in it's secure keep.
