A Moth To Flame
Brown as wood,
Eyes of black,
On it's papery wings
It must go back.
Home awaits it
Yet it flies its way
To the fiery flame
That just turns it away.
The heat sears it body-
It blinds it eye
Yet it lingers,
Knowing it will die.
It flutters lightly
It's wings tire
Even as it struggles
To find its flaming pyre.
It could adore the leaves
Or meander in the sky
But it chooses fire
And I wondered why.
Now I know
Because I see it in me
And the friendship I seek
Between you and me.
I am the moth
And you, my flame
Friendship, I sought;
It was death that came.
A/N: I wonder why almost all 'friendships' go this way... The 'flame' never invited the moth, yet it kills itself by going over anyway. I've heard of one sided love, but I guess one sided friendship is just as painful.
