Mental Truth
They tell you to get over it,
that it is all in your mind,
that you are doing this to yourself,
but they can't see the war,
you fight in your brain for sanity.
That ever day you are rebuilding yourself,
because everyday something knocks you down.
They think they know,
but they haven't suffered a thing.
Quick to judge,
but slow to understand.
This isn't a decision,
but something that's happening. Something you can't control,
because it keeps falling out of your hands,
out of reach.
That every time you try to make it better,
it gets worse.
They don't see how bringing up certain things cause us to panic and sweat.
Can they not see how our minds become a threat?
That our thoughts turn against us?
This war we are fighting is just another battle we seem to be losing.
That first we learnt how to drown,
not to float.
That we are just surviving.
Mental disabilities are real,
something you have to learn to deal with,
but if you haven't been at the war,
don't judge who wins the battle, because you haven't seen all the soldiers underneath the Soil,
Or how the war took its toll.
Not everyone flies their flag the same after the war.
