Willow
Whispers in the willows
Speak of terrible sorrows
Brought on by the fires
Flames filled with ire.
Soft breezes bring tears
From the willow to my ears
She bends and sways with agonized grace
Her soft arms whip painfully across my face.
The weeping of the willow tree
Sounds across the meadow free
Her pain breaks my lonely heart
Her woeful sighs tear me apart.
The whimpering willow tree calls
From each of the branches, her voice falls
She cries out for a hint of peace
Peace for a single moment, at least.
As the flames leap from branch to branch
The willow wishes for a chance
So I take the tear drops from my eyes
And pour them down until the fire dies.
The willow has fallen to solemn ashen remains
The wind picks her up and blows her across the plains
The willow sighs contentedly
After all that pain, at last, she is free.
