Was It Really Worth It?
Never tell someone to kill themselves
Never try to worsen the pain
While they have nothing to lose
What have you to gain by telling them this little phrase
Do you think they haven't thought about it every day?
Do you think you're funny
Do you think you're being smart
You're being inhuman
And some people take that to heart.
If you don't know the circumstances
Don't jump to conclusions
Don't immediately think 'attention whore'
When someone asks you for help
It takes courage to ask
Trust me I know
It takes courage to ask for help
And when you shoot them down
It hurts them more than you know
Some of you may take this and use it against others
Knowing what you say will hurt
But if you do, what right have you to live among the people you love
How can you look your loved ones in the eyes knowing
All the things you've said
Perhaps it has no gravity for you
Let me explain something
That little thing you said on a whim
It could've pushed someone over the edge
You never know the state of someone's mind
And it's dangerous to take their life
And assume they are happy
Assume they just want attention
Perhaps some do
But, you have to act with kindness first
Always act with kindness first
Never start out by telling someone that pain inside
Is fake
And that their cry for help
Is just a cry for attention
Never assume
Assumptions can lead to bad things
Your assumptions could lead someone to do something
Something hauntingly permanent
And perhaps one day you will look back
And you will know what you did
The thought will fill you with shame
Was it really worth it?
