Daughter of Life
The stars above are twinkling
Like little crystal beads
Tossed by the handful in a sprinkling.
Like hearing a tune on the pipes of reeds
The birds and crickets sing
They weave a beautiful tune
Fit for a king.
Underneath the moon
The silver trees do linger;
For if they were to leave
There would be nothing left for the singers.
Fireflies and the patterns they weave
Circling in the air
Lights floating by like they were dangled by a string
Though if there were a string it would be thinner than a hair.
There is a spring
Right in the center of the meadow
It bubbles up with pure, clear water
And then lets it out to flow.
I am the daughter
Of stars and moon and trees
Of the water in the spring and the melody in the air
And I find the clearing with ease.
I watch the sun rise and flare
As I lay on the grass and stare
And I am satisfied to stay sitting there
All around me I am aware
Of the forest teeming with life
And I would be fine with returning home
If it were not for my mourning and strife.
