1896
She walked down the silent road
All beaten up, it was
Her breath was slowed
All 'cause
What she left behind was sad
But what lay ahead was unknown
She summoned up all the courage she had
Now she was alone.
Only the trees to guide her
But that was fine; she had already known companionship
No matter how she had been treated
She left that behind
All she ever said before was 'yes, sir!'
With an apple at her hip
And a blanket that had been heated
It was not right to rewind
That which she wanted to forget
She walked on, into the sunset
That was nothing to regret
She didn't find anything. Yet.
