Rivers of blood drowned the ground
Silence was the only sound
Hearts broken, loved ones lost

In the city the widows cry
All they wish is to say goodbye
Poppies scattered in the field
Amongst the bodies of those yet to yield

In the light of the dying sun
Souls leave their bodies one by one

With open arms they greet Death, their old friend
