The Spoiler Paradox

Are you my next prince charming?
Are you my evil queen?
Are you my loyal lady in waiting,
Or is this the last of you I'll see?

I don't just meet a person,
With a quick who are you.
I write them into my story,
Making up some details too.

I write who I want them to be
And what I want to feel.
I choose a prefered ending,
Wishing it would be real.

I can't live in the moment.
I can't wait for the story to unfold.
The thing is, I'm a writer,
Who wishes the world was in her hold.

Too be able to know the future,
Whether the end is happy or not.
I actually want to control the events,
Decide what happens in the plot.

Yes, you can call me boring,
And tell me there is magic in the mystery,
To enjoy the path, wherever it may lead,
Let every day form a chapter in your story.

But, I want the spoiler paradox,
Knowing the end makes me enjoy the story more.
Unfortunately life doesn't work that way,
So I guess I'll just have to see what life has in store.

Will you be be the one to help me?
Will you cause my fall?
Can I just ask one more question?
Will you please just stay through it all?

The latest research published in the journal Psychological Science shows that knowing the ending of a story before you read it doesn't hurt the experience of the story. It actually makes you enjoy the story more.
