Werewolf's Tale
The night was cold
And the stars bright
The man took his place
So the plan could take flight.
The cracking in his bones
The groans of pain
His claws scraped the dirt
With what to gain?
His howls rang free
His teeth bared wide
Hoping the village wouldn't see
The monster he kept inside
And, yet, there was one
So timid and small
The boy took off running
With a sight to recall
The people didn't believe him
Certainly, who would?
They felt that this was just a reflection
Of his troubled childhood
But then they heard the cry
The wolf's mournful song
The townspeople began to quake
And prayed for saving all night long
The man on the hill
Snarling and fierce
Had no idea of what was to come
Or the heart that would be pierced
A gathering of pitchforks
And a grouping of guns
Meant the men would go hunting
Until the appearance of the sun
Yelling and shouting
Snarling and growling
Shooting and stabbing
Silence and dying
The wolfman is gone
And the town is again safe
Until another lycanthrope
Will chase the men to their graves
