WE'RE POEMS TOO
Some songs are not always meant to be sung
But they are still written down anyway
Some legends are not always meant to be told
But they still become stories and plays
And yet anything you are meant to say
You can't always know if it's already been said
Therefore
Research becomes recasting
Priming the pump becomes refilling and reflecting
And the things you wanted to say
Come out differently than in their original state
And yet if we treat one another with respect and dignity
Treat ourselves the same way we treat our prose and poetry
Whether it's a fictional story or a well composed song
Some word you said right, or some sentence you said wrong
Whether grammatically incorrect, or vocabulary-inept
We are all troubadours and Inventors in our way
Yet,
Why can't we all respect one another
And read between the lines of our books, not just cover-to-cover
For even if some tales tried and true, turn out cliche
Why can't we the poems be the same way?
