Ship of Fools
a ship of fools, the brain I've built
belowdecks primed with padded walls
a jealousy too fatuous
to counteract the fractiousness
embedded in the fiber-optic halls.
the too-familiar agony
of no-you-don't's and you-can-not's
a rancid swelling up inside
that horrid game of seek and hide
and secretly I'm begging to be caught
I carve initials in my hull
a selfish word, for me, for mine
too dense the waves upon me scream
and still I jettison no dream
so sink we shall to drown the fools in brine
