Why is it that whenever people write books, the main girl always seems to be some dependant, wimpy girl who is just waiting for her Prince Charming to come and sweep her off her feet and make everything better.
Even if the girl seems tough, by the end of the book you learn that she is actually not and just puts up a facade to protect herself.
I would like to point out that not all girls are that way. Some girls don't feel like they need a guy. Sure you may not mind some attention from cute guys, but not all girls feel the need to be swept off their feet and saved from their tragic past and childhood.
I don't know if it's just me but I really wouldn't mind reading a few books where the girl is freaking independent and doesn't need someone to come and save her, she saves herself. If there has to be a romance, fine but it doesn't have to be a "I need someone to make my life better and you're the love of my life. It has to be you who will save me". How about a "we both like each other, maybe even love, we don't save each other but we do make each other better. You don't control me, I don't control you. This is an equal partnership where we help each other equally. There may be times when I need you more or when you need me, but not all the time. Mainly we just help each other along and enjoy each other's company."
. I really wouldn't mind reading a few books like that. Excuse my rant for the day. This was just the main thought on my mind for some reason.
