to my dearest friends
To my dearest friends at Park Christian
Do you remember when I was there?
I remember it like it was just yesterday
I remember playing hot lava
On the playground at recess
Choking down the terrible hot lunch food
And filching each other's snacks
We'd chill in the art room
Play games in the computer lab.
There were days we'd stay after
Explore and then go to games
We'd paint our faces red and yell,
Pounding out rhythms till the bleachers broke
Sometimes we'd have huge fights
But after time passed we'd get over it.
We each had our little groups and cliques
Though all together we still bonded well
Through trips to Cooperstown, the Andes, and D.C.
We found out how much we all had in common
There are days I miss you all terribly
And fondly remember the music trips we went on
The speech meets we survived
And still the memories are wonderful
And I hold you in my heart
