As you whisper in my ear

I miss our midnight conversations

How safe I felt with you

For my whole life I will miss you

But how can I love you

When I hate you at the same time

With more emotion than I've ever felt

I wait, agitated, for your call

But the phone lies silent

You left me alone with myself

It hurts me more than you know

Because words matter

And so do I
