Hope
Your walking down the street
Walking all alone.
Never seen a strand of light
And always been alone.
Darkness at each corner
Destruction down your feet.
A ragged white dress is all you bare
Slowly dirtying as you plod along.
You hear the laughter of other
You hear their joyful cries
And although you can't see them
You know that there beside you
Your keep on walking slowly
Dirt from head to toe.
Dead brown eyes staring ahead
And a sad frown upon your face.
But then you start to see it
A light at the other end
You know it might be foolish
Because you learned there's no escape
But there it is in front of you
A small circle of light
Slowly getting stronger
Slowly getting larger.
You kneel down and hold it
Yellow illuminating your face
Could this be the key
To the exit of your nightmare?
You look at it and see
Children happily playing
There laughter now making safe
And longing posing inside you
You know it might be foolish
But you dip your head inside
You see a world full of color
And Light at every side.
The children there accept you
And they call you by a name
"Hope come here"
"Hope come play"
"Hope don't go away"
No matter what she's there
Trodding down your street.
Bringing happiness to all
And making the day brighter.
She may be hiding in a corner
Or she might be in your face
But Hope is there, calling you
"Please don't go away."
