The Giver's Poem
Freedom
A simple dream, blown to bits by the wind.
Illusion
To my eyes, safety to theirs.
Memories
Flood my vision, delve into my soul.
Pain
As I watch them, blinded to life.
Color
Nonexistent, gone with true love.
Sorrow
For I cannot help them, they don't understand.
But how can they?
For they are nothing now,
Worthless.
True meaning gone.
Gone.
No way back.
Their choice
To take away their choices.
Lost
Stumbling through darkness so deep,
Light so bright,
Blinding.
Only one way.
A way nearly disappeared.
But introduced to the world,
The wonders,
No other choice.
For they've been taken from me.
Author's note: I probably wrote this for school. I can't remember if I read The Giver in middle school or high school, but it's a good book. Check it out if you haven't read it.
