there's a nonviolent battle

and where it takes place

is just above the stomach

and right below the face

the fighting, it happens

between you and yourself

but the cause is external

shots fired somewhere else

i've had a few battles

and have yet to win

with each battle i lose

it's worse to begin

so as i see the sniper

getting farther away

the shots hit me harder

and it's worse everyday

i want to be happy

i try and i try

but with each losing battle

tears prick my eyes

it's not hard to find joy

and have it for a bit

but it's hard to find comfort

and revel in it

i just want one victory

fights not to fall short

sniper, some closer

please don't let it hurt.
