Time withered away the hurtful memories
I still remember the day he rescued me
the look on his face as he said "it's okay"
he promised tomorrow would be a new day
in my hospital bed, I denied his words
knowing I'd die today, his words only hurt
my heart was failing, my energy falling
I hugged him close so he'd not see me sobbing
he said he had a present to give to me
and I couldn't have it until the morning
I said I'd be gone before the morning comes
I longed for another chance to see the sun
my parents came back, I knew the time was near
that's when he left saying "I love you my dear"
on his way out, my parents hugged him closely
doctors said it's fast and I might feel dizzy
the nurses surrounded my hospital bed
my mom said "he loves you" as she kissed my head
I closed my eyes, as the darkness engulfed me
a thick sea of blackness is all I could see
it felt like forever before I saw light
as I looked around me, it wasn't quite right
everything was the same as it was before
there's a card on the bed, is it me it's for?
confused, I open the envelope with ease
now reading the words in the letter, I freeze
"I'm sorry my love, I could not be with you.
Your heart must be great! I heard it's now brand new.
Please don't cry, I couldn't live life without you.
I saw your heart failing, I knew I had to.
Don't do anything I wouldn't ever do.
Goodbye, my love, my heart now belongs to you."
my tears wouldn't stop, I knew they never may
