Chains
Locked up in these chains, unable to move,
Wings cut of and sight blinded by darkness,
How is she ever going to see,
The light of freedom?
Pinned to the earth below,
All her might is drained;
There lay her hope and faith,
Buried deep inside the soil.
She is trying to break free,
To fly up again;
But the chains only go deeper,
Those chains never let her go.
Every time a shooting star pass,
All she wishes for is to live,
With no boundaries in her way,
With no fences in between.
Hoping those chains would just fade away,
Hoping it is just a bad dream,
Hoping the pain would go away,
She closed her eyes, again.

Hey guys I would like to share the story behind this poem with all of you.
One day during lunch at school, my friends and I were talking about random stuff while eating food. Idk how we reached the topic but we started to speak about the LGBTQ community. My friends were talking like they hated homos and were being super disrespectful. I told them that there is nothing wrong with being homosexual, it's their identity and we have to respect that. My friends went on insulting gays and I told them to stop. I'm straight and I wholeheartedly support the LGBTQ community, I don't even think there is a reason to not support them. Then my friends started calling me 'gay' for supporting LGBTQ. Being called 'Gay' is not an insult. Being gay is an identity and if they don't realize that simple fact then there is no use in shooting them with my words, it won't work. So I decided that it was better to be alone than to sit with a group of homophobic teens.
In my classroom, there is a huge cupboard that doesn't have any compartments. Being a 5ft tall minion I can easily fit inside it. I used to spend a lot of time inside that cupboard and just chill in there. It is even known as 'Ganga's sweet home' among my classmates. So I spent the rest of lunch in that cupboard writing this poem.
This poem is dedicated to all my peeps who have hard times in their life. I've always felt like a black sheep because I'm different from everyone around me. I think, act and speak differently and the fact that I couldn't fully fit inside a group bothered me. But as time went on I understood that it is the differences that make us unique. We all belong here and we are the ones who make this world colourful.
And also, I submitted this poem for my school magazine. And guess what, IT GOT SELECTED!!!!
Thank you for reading my poem, I hope you enjoyed it. If you did please support it by voting.
