Jay leaned back in his chair at the campus lounge, his phone pressed against his ear as he called Jake. The day had been its usual whirlwind—classes, flirting, and an encounter with Jungwon that still lingered in his mind. If there was anyone who could help him make sense of it all, it was his cousin, Jake.
"Yo, Jay!" Jake answered, his tone bright and cheerful as always. "What's up, man? You never call. What'd you break this time?"
Jay chuckled, rolling his eyes. "Funny. I'm not calling for damage control this time."
"That's a first," Jake teased. "Alright, spill. What's on your mind?"
Jay hesitated for a second before diving in. "So, I had a weird day. Ran into Jungwon again."
"Jungwon?" Jake's voice perked up. "Jeongin's little brother? The dancer?"
"Yeah," Jay replied, absentmindedly tapping his fingers on the table. "He's... different. Not like the usual crowd."
Jake let out a low whistle. "Different? Coming from you, that's a big deal. You've got, like, a ten-second attention span when it comes to people. What makes him so special?"
Jay leaned forward, resting his elbow on the table. "I don't know. He's not falling for my usual charm, for one. And he's got this fire in him—like he's not afraid to call me out. It's... refreshing."
Jake laughed. "Sounds like he's got you hooked. You sure you're not crushing?"
Jay paused, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know. Maybe? It's not like I planned this."
"Well, welcome to the club," Jake said, his tone light but teasing. "I get it, though. Sunghoon's been on my mind lately."
Jay smirked, leaning back again. "Still crushing on him, huh? When are you going to make a move?"
Jake groaned. "Don't start. Sunghoon's impossible to read. One minute he's laughing at my jokes, the next he's giving me that stoic, ice prince look. I can't tell if he's interested or just tolerating me."
"Sounds like you need a new strategy," Jay said. "Maybe you should take notes from me."
"Yeah, because your methods are working so well with Jungwon," Jake shot back, laughing.
Jay couldn't help but laugh too. "Alright, fair. But seriously, Sunghoon's your friend. How bad could it be to tell him how you feel?"
Jake sighed. "Easier said than done. But enough about me. Let's talk about you and Jungwon. What's the plan?"
"Not sure yet," Jay admitted. "He's hard to approach. I feel like I need to understand him better before making a move."
Jake hummed thoughtfully. "Well, you've got that business brain of yours. Use it. Strategize. But don't treat this like a corporate deal, Jay. Jungwon's a person, not a merger."
Jay grinned. "I know that. I'm not completely heartless, you know."
"Debatable," Jake teased. "Speaking of business, how's your major going? Still boring yourself to death with spreadsheets and stock analysis?"
Jay snorted. "It's not that bad. It's practical, at least. And hey, I'll be running the family company one day, so I might as well get used to it."
Jake let out a dramatic sigh. "Couldn't be me. Fashion's where it's at. Way more fun, way more creative."
"Yeah, because designing clothes is super practical," Jay teased.
"Hey, my designs are going to be on runways someday," Jake said, his voice full of mock indignation. "You'll see."
Jay smiled, shaking his head. "I don't doubt it. You've got the talent for it."
"Thanks, man," Jake said, his tone softening. "But seriously, about Jungwon—be careful. He's not like the girls you usually chase. Don't mess this up."
Jay nodded to himself, a rare moment of seriousness crossing his face. "I won't. Promise."
"Good," Jake said. "Now, let's talk about how you're going to help me with Sunghoon."
Jay laughed, leaning back in his chair again. "Alright, hit me with it. What's the game plan?"
