Jay paced back and forth in his apartment after his conversation with Jake, the weight of his father's influence pressing heavily on his chest. He hated how much control his father still had over his life, even from thousands of miles away. Finally, he decided he couldn't let it continue. It was time to face him head-on.
Without hesitation, Jay booked the next flight to Washington, D.C. The journey felt both agonizingly slow and unnervingly fast. As the plane touched down, Jay took a deep breath, steeling himself for the confrontation ahead.
Arriving at his family's estate, Jay pushed open the heavy front door and was immediately greeted by the cold, imposing interior that mirrored his father's demeanor. He found his father in the study, seated behind a massive oak desk, his gaze sharp as he looked up.
"Jay," his father greeted, his tone neutral but with an edge of surprise. "What brings you here? I didn't expect to see you so soon."
Jay walked into the room with purpose, his shoulders squared. "I needed to talk to you, Dad. About everything."
His father raised an eyebrow but gestured for Jay to continue.
"I'm taking over the company," Jay began, his voice steady. "And I'm doing it on my terms—without a partner, without an arranged marriage, and without anyone else dictating my choices."
The older man's eyes narrowed, his lips pressing into a thin line. "You think you can run the company without the support of a partner? That's not how this works, Jay. You need alliances, strong connections—"
"I'll build those alliances myself," Jay interrupted firmly. "I don't need a forced marriage to prove my worth or strengthen the company."
His father's expression darkened. "This is about that boy, isn't it? The one you've been seen with. I warned you, Jay—"
"And I'm tired of your warnings," Jay snapped, his voice rising. "Yes, this is about Jungwon, and it's about me, too. I'm done hiding who I am, Dad. I'm bisexual. I like men, and I like women. That's not going to change, no matter how much you disapprove."
The silence that followed was deafening. His father's face was a storm of conflicting emotions—shock, anger, disbelief.
"You're throwing your life away," his father finally said, his voice cold and biting. "Do you have any idea what this will do to our family's reputation?"
Jay stood his ground, his gaze unwavering. "I'm not throwing my life away. I'm living it. And if our family's reputation can't handle the truth, then maybe it's not as strong as you think."
His father's hands clenched into fists on the desk, but Jay didn't flinch. For the first time in his life, he felt truly free—free from the weight of his father's expectations, free from the fear that had held him back for so long.
"I'll be leaving now," Jay said, turning to walk away. "I just wanted you to know that I'm taking control of my life, and there's nothing you can do to stop me."
As Jay left the study and stepped out into the crisp Washington air, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. He'd done it—he'd faced his father and taken a stand.

Jay arrived back at his apartment, still buzzing from the adrenaline of his confrontation with his father. As soon as he dropped his bags, he called Jake over, knowing he needed to share what had happened. Within minutes, Jake was there, lounging on Jay's couch with a curious but relaxed expression.
"So," Jake started, leaning back with his arms crossed. "You flew all the way to D.C. to talk to your dad. What happened?"
Jay sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I told him everything. About the company, about not needing an arranged marriage, and... about being bisexual."
Jake's eyes widened slightly, his relaxed demeanor shifting to something more serious. "You came out to your dad? That's... huge, man. How did he take it?"
Jay let out a dry laugh and sank into the chair opposite Jake. "Not well, obviously. He started ranting about reputation, alliances, all the usual crap. But I didn't back down. I told him I'm taking over the company on my terms, without his old-fashioned conditions."
Jake studied him for a moment before asking, "And what about Jungwon? Did you mention him?"
Jay hesitated, his gaze dropping to his hands. "Yeah... I brought him up. Not by name, but my dad figured it out. He's seen us together before, apparently."
Jake raised an eyebrow. "And how did that go over?"
Jay leaned back, exhaling heavily. "Not great. He made it clear how much he disapproves, but I didn't let it stop me. I told him it doesn't matter what he thinks because I'm done living for his approval."
Jake nodded slowly, a small smirk creeping onto his face. "You know, it's funny..."
"What is?" Jay asked, narrowing his eyes.
Jake chuckled, leaning forward. "The way your voice softens every time you talk about Jungwon. Even now, after all this heavy stuff with your dad, you can't help it. You've got it bad, Jay."
Jay scoffed, his cheeks tinting pink. "Shut up. I don't—"
"Don't even try to deny it," Jake interrupted, grinning. "You went to war with your dad, threw away the arranged marriage plans, and basically told him to deal with it—all because of Jungwon."
"It wasn't just because of him," Jay muttered, crossing his arms defensively.
"But he's a big part of it, isn't he?" Jake pressed, his grin widening. "You've got feelings for him, and it's eating you alive. Admit it."
Jay groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Fine, maybe I do. But what difference does it make? He probably still hates me after everything."
Jake's expression softened. "Then show him you're serious. Stop hiding behind your teasing and actually tell him how you feel. You've already taken a stand against your dad. Now, take a stand for yourself—and for him."
Jay didn't respond right away, the weight of Jake's words sinking in. Could he really do it? Could he open up to Jungwon and risk everything?
"I'll think about it," Jay finally said, his voice low but determined.
Jake clapped him on the shoulder with a smile. "That's all I ask. But don't wait too long, Jay. If you really care about him, he deserves to know."
