73- Dirty mind
Rehaan's POV
It is now my dream to fulfill all her dreams.
No matter how much I do, it's never going to be enough to compensate for what I had put her through or what she did for me.
From the day I ended up in the hospital, she had done nothing but care for me. She did so much for me while expecting nothing in return. Yet she was always ready to give back for the seven years where I had been her saviour.
Which turned out to be a joke at the end.
Whether she believed it or not, I had tormented her those seven years. Even if I was careful enough to not cross the boundary, I wasn't exactly innocent.
To think that I continued harassing her even after I had stopped thinking of her as the one responsible for my parents' death. I was concerned for her, I didn't want any harm to come to her, yet I couldn't stop being a jerk to her.
Why?
Just because we both had got accustomed to that dynamic of our relationship? And it was mildly inconvenient to suddenly change my behaviour?
I was a real jerk that deserved a good beating.
I grimaced thinking about the person I was.
I would have hated the person for my entire life if someone acted with me the way I had behaved with Muskaan. However, she decided to forgo everything just because I fell into a tragedy.
I don't think I would have even bothered visiting me in the hospital. I didn't have a heart like Muskaan. I would have just run away with all the money and cards, taking them as the payment for enduring all the torment and trouble.
From the moment I got my memories back, I have felt nothing but contempt for myself. The person I was, I definitely don't deserve to be in Muskaan's life.
But I am too selfish to let her go.
That's why I am going to become the person she deserves.
I will do everything in my power to erase the remnants of the 'Old Rehaan', as Muskaan likes to call it.
★★★★★
Ananya Di!
The lady who infuriated me to no end, but was so important to Muskaan. How could she just leave when Muskaan needed her the most? And with whom, me? The person she didn't trust one bit.
If I could just strangle her neck...
No matter how angry I was, my feelings about Ananya Di didn't matter right now. What Muskaan felt was. Uplifting her spirits was.
I wanted to console her, but didn't want to give her false hopes. The more hopeful she got, the more her heart would break. Especially since there was a very minute chance that she would get her friend back.
And even for that minute chance, I needed to figure out what that uncle's deal was.
To beat him we needed to figure out what he was after in the first place. What about Muskaan's identity was so harmful to him?
That madman did all sorts of things to rescue Muskaan. And then switched all of a sudden before it was time to take her back home.
Something happened in their home. Bingo!
"If we cannot contact him then we must do something that would make him come running towards us," I told her with a smirk on my face.
"Do you have a plan? What are we going to do?" Muskaan asked, raising her eyebrows with curiosity.
"We are going after family," I announced, standing up with determination.
Muskaan followed my actions and stood up too, but instead of determined she looked unsure and should I say...a bit disappointed.
"Family? As in, we are going to hurt his family members? Rehaan, remember that they are my family too, even if I haven't met them."
"I haven't met them either nor do I know who they are and where they are," I informed her about the obvious with a roll of my eyes, before adding, "and I wasn't talking about harming them either."
Muskaan let out a breath of relief, before asking, "Then?"
"Remember, your uncle said that the family which had no contact with your mother for so many years came running at the news of her pregnancy."
"Yeah...so?"
I looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to join the dots herself. It didn't take too long, her reaction being way funnier than I expected.
She instinctively took a few steps back. "Are you crazy?" She shrieked in alarm, her eyes widened comically.
"Not even a kiss and this man directly wants to jump to the finale," she grumbled, while muttering all sorts of curses under her breath.
I muffled my chuckle, while wondering if I should clear her misunderstanding or let the show go on.
"If not having kissed is the only problem then we can easily solve the problem right away," I said tongue in cheek.
Just as I expected her cheeks turned red, no, not because of blushing but because of anger. If it was a cartoon, smoke would be coming out of her ears.
"You...," she said, pointing her finger at me angrily, "don't even think of coming near me." She warned me, before muttering, "Natural pervert."
"Hey!" I shouted, not liking the term at all.
"What? You aren't?" She asked sarcastically, before huffing at me.
"I am not, you are," I retorted, huffing as well. "It was your dirty mind that thought of the whole scenario in the first place. I was just thinking about spreading a lie about you being pregnant. Who said anything about actually doing it?"
"What?" She whispered in shock, before closing her eyes in embarrassment.
"I...I," Muskaan opened and closed her mouth a few times, trying to come up with a comeback, but ended up yelling at me at last, "You should have clearly mentioned the entire plan in one go. It's entirely your fault."
"Yeah, totally my fault for jumping into that conclusion," I said sarcastically, before deciding to tease her a bit more. Wiggling my eyebrows, I said, "It's not possible to jump into that very conclusion unless you were already thinking about it."
She scoffed, "In your dreams."
"Well my dreams are—"
"Don't." She stopped me, before I could finish, perhaps already knowing where my track of mind was. "Please don't make it make it weirder than it already has become." She looked at me with pleading eyes.
I shut up immediately, understanding that now it had crossed her comfort levels. I blinked my eyes in assurance, before smiling gently at her to provide silent comfort.
She smiled back at me, albeit it was more of an embarrassed one.
"About the plan...," I started, not because I wanted to focus on the main topic, but because I wanted to get her out of her embarrassed state.
"Yeah, how will it work?" She asked, eagerly latching onto the change of topic.
"We just need to spill the fact to the neighbour aunty somehow, accidentally of course," I smirked.
Muskaan smirked back, clearly understanding where I was going with it. "Then she would spread it to the whole society or even the neighbouring societies."
"Your uncle is already keeping tabs on us. He will soon find out and come running towards us. Maybe the entire family will."
"Wouldn't he try to get me to abort?" Muskaan questioned suddenly as the thought suddenly struck her.
I scratched my head, "They were happy during your mother's pregnancy."
"But the current uncle is different from the one who saved my mother," Muskaan pointed out. "If my identity is a problem then possibly my kid's identity would be too."
"So this plan is a flop as well," I sighed.
Another failure. My skills have gotten rusty.
"Not really," Muskaan said, making my ears perk up.
Chuckling at my reaction, she continued, "It's not like I am actually pregnant. So harm would come to my 'non-existent' baby.
"Our motive is to contact uncle. Who cares whether he comes with happiness or anger." Muskaan shrugged.
I nodded in agreement, an evil smile perching up on my face.
Mwahahaha in Muskaan's case.
