22- Fighting Temptations
In the end he couldn't fight it.
After all the false claims that he didn't mind, that I didn't need to sacrifice, we were here. Rehaan was literally drooling at the sight of my food, while his food wasn't granted a second of attention.
"I will just take a bite."
I swatted away his hand that had come close to my plate.
He glared at me with his mouth hung open. "Gosh! So stingy," he huffed, "It's just a bite."
"You. Are. Not. Allowed. To. Eat. It."
"You can speak normally. I don't have a problem understanding the language." He rolled his eyes.
"Really? It didn't seem like it a second before."
"Ah, Seriously. I don't even have a stomach problem. It's just a head wound. What will happen in one bite?" Rehaan groaned, banging his palms on the table.
"Just a head wound, you say? You lost your memories because of this simple wound," I retorted.
"Even then, what has food to do with it? I mean the food is going down, not up." He threw his hands up in the air in frustration.
It was so refreshing to see this side of his returning, not. A single sniff of the delicious food, and boom, all his gentleness, calmness vanished into thin air.
The food does bring out the worst or best in him.
"Listen Rehaan, I may not be as smart as you. Neither do I know what body part gets affected by which kind of food—"
"Exactly. So listen to me—"
"But, I am really not going to agree with the opinion of a patient rather than follow the doctor's words," I said, cutting him off, earning a glare from him.
Let him glower as much as he wants. He was the one who interrupted me first.
"Muskaan." He yelled, throwing a hissy fit.
"Rehaan," I said back sweetly, using a completely opposite tone to his, before tightening my face. "No."
A short and clear answer for someone who doesn't understand your long paragraphs. Very smart, Muskaan! Standing ovation for you!
Thank you! Thank you!
"Please. Just one bite."
"Don't even try." I warned, before he could try making puppy eyes.
I am going to puke if he tries that ever again.
For some reason, those cute antics didn't suit him at all. I mean his goofy nature wasn't exactly bad, but my mind couldn't handle any other image of his. He was forever going to stay as the stern, strict and jerk of a boss. Seriousness suited him the best.
Keep telling that to your heart. It doesn't seem to agree with your viewpoint. Especially the dancing heartbeats of yours.
My inner consciousness was my biggest enemy.
"He doesn't look cute," I yelled at her, trying to shut her up for once.
"What?" Rehaan asked, looking confused and slightly weird out.
"What, what?" I shrugged, while trying to act natural. But my voice squeaked, making me more embarrassed than I already was.
He raised his eyebrows, but didn't comment further. He just had an infuriating smile on his face, making me want to....Argh!
"Don't misunderstand. I wasn't talking about you."
"I never said you were." If possible, his smile got even wider.
Way to spill the beans!
"I am so stupid." I bowed my head, while clutching my hair, cursing myself.
"Muskaan, chill. It's not that big of a deal," Rehaan said gently, but I could still hear his chuckles.
"At least don't laugh while you are saying that." My voice came out muffled, as I was still hiding behind my hair.
"Let me taste the food, and I will stop laughing. Deal?"
Parting my hair and raising my head a bit, I glared at him.
"Want to eat this instead?" I asked, raising my fist.
"Alright, alright." He raised his hands in surrender, finally giving up, but not before making a bad face. "Just start eating before it gets cold."
I had just opened my mouth to grab the first bite when I noticed him mindlessly moving his spoon around his food. Sighing, I kept my spoon aside, and stood up.
"What happened now?" He asked, looking startled by my suddenness.
"Give me some time. I will cook something nice for you," I said, while putting the food back from the plate to the box.
"I thought I wasn't allowed to...," he trailed off.
"You are allowed to eat delicious food." I informed him, while scratching my head in tiredness. "It just has to be home cooked. The healthy food from the outside isn't completely healthy either. So junk food is out of the question. But I can cook everything from scratch. That way you will get to eat healthy and tasty food at the same time. Just...just give me some time, yeah? I will just—"
Before I could finish my sentence, he stood up and held my hand gently, stopping me from transferring the food. "Sit down."
"Rehaan, I don't have time to sit. It's already late and you need to eat your medicine too. Let me work," I said, while trying to remove his hold from me, key word- tried.
"Sit," he said again. This time more firmly.
I sat down but still tried to voice out my concerns. "Reha—"
"Sshh." He shushed me, before taking my plate and filling it back again.
"Eat," he ordered in a gentle tone, while placing the spoon in my hand.
"Rehaan."
"Eat, Muskaan. I will eat my food too. Quietly and without any tantrums. Promise." He gently caressed my hair once, before he went back to his seat.
"I..." My mouth opened and closed continuously as I tried to say something. I wanted to speak but I seriously had no words.
Rehaan blinked his eyes at me, smiling warmly at me, probably understanding that I was overwhelmed.
Unlike last time, he happily scooped the food and ate it, while smiling at me every now and then. He was eating his bland food like it was a feast. He gestured to me to start eating wordlessly as his mouth was stuffed, when he noticed me staring at me.
Throughout the time, not once, not even once did he look or longed for the food I was eating.
