2. The Seeker
DW [10/OC]
Summary
He wasn't alone.
The Doctor came across something he never thought was possible when he was leaving New Earth with Rose.
A voice so timid and lost was calling out for help, over and over again. It was weak, but the sound lingered in the parts of his mind that was supposed to be empty. The desolate part of his head that once held a chorus, the part he tried so desperately to forget as regret pulled at the strings of his hearts. It didn't matter now.
All that mattered now was,
He wasn't alone.

"Help!" The cry echoed in his head as he glanced around the ward after dropping Cassandra off on earth.
"Rose, did you hear that?" The Doctor turned to his companion.
"Hear what?"
"Please, anyone" the voice pleaded. The Doctor ran down the halls searching the different wards as the voice grew louder, "please, can anyone hear me?"
"Doctor!" Rose shouted as she chased after him.
"Rose, tell me you can hear it." He stopped suddenly turning to his companion.
"I don't hear anything."
"Must be telepathic," he mumbled, "come on, it's this way." He grabbed her hand and pulled her through a couple more corridors before ending up in a science lab.
"This must be where they made all the cures." Rose spoke glancing around the room at the different coloured intravenous solutions. She watched the Doctor approach a heavy metal door pressing his ear against the metal.
He listened and heard an electric current pass though some wires on the other side of the door and stiffened as the voice screamed in his mind. He frowned and pulled out his screwdriver.
"What is it Doctor?"
"Someone's being tortured in there." He almost growled as he heard the scream again. He opened the door and got Rose to help shift it before stepping into the room. The walls were white, everything was white. But what captured his attention was the woman strapped to a table in the center of the room.
Rose rushed forward and checked the woman. "She's alive Doctor, what's wrong with her?"
The woman wore a white gown, her short hair was matted and there was a mental dampener around her forehead. Her eyes were shut, but her breathing was ragged. Her blood was being filtered out by a tube in her arm and something else was being put in. He reached out and loosened the band around her head, his face showing constant anger and it was starting to scare Rose.
"Who is she Doctor?"
"She's a Timelord." He spoke even though he struggled to get the words out. He carefully removed the dampener which had two long needles inserted into her brain. "Over there, get me some adrenaline." He pointed to a syringe and bottle on the tray and Rose obeyed his command. The doctor spent a few minutes unhooking the woman from all the machines and injected her with the drug.
Her eyes shot open and Rose stumbled back. "Hello." The woman spoke in their minds, "you might want to step back." Her body starts to glow a fiery orange and the Doctor's eyes widen. He grabs Rose pulling her behind him as the woman on the table regenerates. After what seems like hours the woman on the table that looked tortured and deathly sick had changed. She looked healthy, with some color in her pale skin. Her hair now fell past her shoulders in a ginger cascade and her once pale eyes now a vibrant blue.
The Doctor helped her sit up as she swung her legs over the side of the table. She looked at Rose and smiled before glancing at the Doctor. "You heard me." She whispered.
"Yes." The Doctor answered prodding at her mind asking for permission to enter.
She glanced up and assessed him curiously before answering his silent question, "No."
"I'm the Doctor. Who are you?"
"I don't know Theta, am I ginger?" She directed her question to Rose after switching from Gallifreyan. Rose nodded and the woman beamed.
"You know me?" The Doctor asked as she tried to stand.
"Time will reveal the answers you seek." She said as she struggled to stand.
"Nelda?" The Doctor questioned as he caught her collapsing form before she passed out.
He gently lifted her into his arms before carrying her towards the door. "Who is she Doctor?" Rose asked assessing the woman in his arms.
"She is the Seeker."

The Doctor sat by her bed in the medical bay of the TARDIS as Rose brought him a drink of tea and the Seeker began to sir. Her eyes fluttered open and she pulled herself into a seated position. Her green gaze flickered between Rose and the Doctor curiously.
"Hello." She directs to Rose a small smile on her face as she assessed the companion.
"Hello." Rose assessed the Timelady unsure what to do about this development.
The Seeker reached for her hair and pulled it into view looking at the color. "You weren't kidding when you said it was ginger." She smiled at the blonde, "I've been waiting years for ginger."
"Anyway," The Doctor interrupts, "what happened to you Seeker, how did you survive the war?"
"In time." She whispered. "So Rose, it was Rose right?" The girl nods, "tell me, what's earth like these days, you look very 21st century? Ooh and do they still have those cakes with edible ball-bearings. Best thing ever invented, oh you must be British, love the tea, and the queen, and she's nice, was a trouble maker as a child though." She was about to speak more but stopped at the look in the girls face. "I'm rambling again aren't I?" She directed her question to the Doctor who only nodded. "Sorry."
"So why do they call you the Seeker anyway?" Rose asked.
"Well if you don't like my name you can blame him. He picked it." She stated sternly then the edges of her lips curled into a grin, "Na, just kidding, you can call me Nelly if you want, that's what other humans call me, I don't mind."
