Chapter 6
Sam's POV
Sam woke the next morning to find Dean already awake and was already dressed, currently making his bed. He sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Thoughts from the previous night filled his head, and he remembered wanting to call Castiel. "Um, Dean?" he said shyly.
Dean seemed to tense. He must've surprised him. "What is it, Sammy?" he asked.
"Um... how do you... call Castiel?" Sam's voice was so soft, he could barely hear it himself. However, Dean seemed to understand what he said.
"You pray. He's an angel, so you pray to him like you would to God." Dean had stopped making his bed to look at him. "Why do you ask?"
"N-no reason," Sam lied. "I was just curious." Dean nodded and went back to making his bed. Sam made the decision that he would pray to Castiel tonight, when Dean was asleep. He wanted a private conversation with the angel. With this thought, he climbed out of bed to start his day.
(Time skip brought to you by Castiel, Angel of the Lord)
Dean had fallen asleep an hour ago. Sam thought that this was enough time and folded his hands together, getting ready to pray. "Um, dear Castiel," he started, already feeling uncomfortable. "I really want to talk to you, so if you could, um, pay a visit before Dean wakes up, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks." He felt like that should be sufficient.
Five minutes passed, and nothing had happened, so Sam was about to give up and just go to bed when he heard a swoosh. He turned around, and there was the angel, standing in the middle of the room. To say Sam was startled would be an understatement. He nearly jumped out of his skin, and it took all he had not to scream. "You called for me?" Castiel said.
"Yeah. Yeah, I wanted to talk to you." Castiel walked over to him. "Um... I was wondering if you knew who someone was..."
"I know the name of humans that have not even been born yet. What is this person's name?"
"Um... h-his name is, um, G-Gabriel," Sam stuttered out.
Castiel tensed up and stared at Sam. "How do you know his name?"
"Uh, I've known it for a few days now."
"Why didn't you tell anybody?" the angel asked a bit angrily.
"I didn't know who he was! For all I know, he could be a psychopathic killer!"
Castiel sighed. "Gabriel is an archangel. But... He's dead."
"Oh," Sam said, suddenly feeling even more awkward. "How did he die?"
"He was killed by Lucifer," came the response.
"The Devil?"
Castiel nodded. "How do you remember him?"
"I don't know. That day we met in the hospital, you touched my head, and a few minutes later, his name and face just appeared in my head."
The angel immediately put two fingers on Sam's head, and seemed to concentrate very hard. After a few moments, he dropped his arm and sighed. "There's a wall in your head. It must have chipped a little bit the first time, but it's reinforced itself now. I can't break it."
"Oh." Well there goes Sam's plan. But why would he remember Gabriel if he was dead? What was so important that it was that memory instead of any other? Maybe... he wasn't really dead? He decided he'd look into that for sure. "Well thanks for trying."
Castiel nodded, and then he was gone. Sam sighed, and went to go find pen and paper. He found it pretty easily and wrote a quick note. "Dean, I'll be back soon. Don't look for me. Sam." He wasn't sure why he wrote the "don't look for me," but he felt it was necessary. He packed a few things into a duffel bag and slung it over his shoulder, silently walking outside to look for the man with the whisky eyes.
He had walked for about a mile when he suddenly realized he didn't know where to look or what to look for. He sighed and walked into a 24-hour coffee shop. Sitting down at a table, he pulled out the laptop he brought with him and powered it up. He started researching "archangels," because that's what Castiel had called Gabriel.
A few hours, and five coffees later, Sam set out with much more knowledge of what he was looking for. He already had a lead, so he was going to look there first. However, it was about three towns away. Already knowing what he would do, he started hitchhiking. It didn't take long for someone to offer him a ride. It was a blonde girl with her brunette boyfriend who offered him a ride. They, coincidentally, were going to the same town to see the boy's parents, so he gladly got in the car.
They arrived about an hour and a half later, and Sam thanked the couple as he got out of the car. The sightings had been in a more deserted part of town, so he started walking in that direction. As the rising sun illuminated the buildings, Sam saw the building he was looking for. There had been reports of crazy things happening, crazy enough that only something very powerful would be able to do it, and they all seemed to be centered around this building right here. So Sam cautiously walked up to the door and knocked. When there was no answer, he tried the doorknob to find that it was unlocked. He opened the door and stepped inside.
He turned on the flashlight he had brought, and he shone the light around the entryway. Nothing. Slowly, he moved on to what looked like the kitchen. All there was there was a bunch of candy. Someone was definitely here. He kept searching, and came across what appeared to be the living room. Empty. Seeing a hallway, he started for there, and he came across another door. He slowly opened it to see that it was a bedroom. But in this bedroom, there was someone in a corner, and it looked like he was holding a weapon.

What is this?! An actual update?! But hey! It's a much longer chapter than ever before! 1026 words! So yeah, I hope that makes up for the wait, because I totally hit a writers block for this story until this idea came along. It sucks, I know, but hey, at least it's something! The question is, is this Gabriel? If it is, will he be able to fix Sam? Or will Sam, Dean, Cas, and (possibly) Gabe have to track down who did this to Sam? Find out in the next chapter! (whenever that may be) Bye!
