Chapter 5

Sam's POV

A few weeks later, the doctors let Sam leave the hospital and he was walking into the parking lot with his brother. "So where do we live?" he asked.

"We don't really have a home," was his answer. "We travel a lot. Ah. Here we are!" Dean said as they approached a vehicle.

"This is your car?" Sam asked. He had to admit, it looked pretty awesome.

"My pride and joy," Dean replied happily. "This is my baby." He got into the driver's seat and Sam naturally slid into the passenger seat.

"So where are we going?" Sam asked.

"We're crashing at a motel for a while, so I'm taking you there, after we grab some dinner, of course," came Dean's reply.

"Oh," Sam said simply. A motel? Wow. I guess I really am homeless. But wait... "H-how do we pay for food and gas and the motels?"

Dean didn't reply right away, and Sam was about to repeat his question when his brother finally spoke up. "That's... a bit complicated to explain. I'll tell you later, alright?"

Sam knew he was hiding something, but he couldn't really do anything about it. Plus, he was keeping his own secret. He didn't know if he could trust this man with this kind of news just yet. And what if this "Gabriel" wasn't that nice of a guy? He could try to hurt them. Best not to get anyone involved in that.

"Sam?" Dean's voice broke him out of his thoughts.

   "Wh-what?"

"I said, what do you want to eat?" Dean said. He was giving Sam a curious look.

"Oh. Um... I-I don't really... know what I like," he mumbled shyly.

"Well, we're going to a burger joint, so I guess you can just decide there?" Dean suggested.

Sam smiled, relieved that the awkwardness was not very intense. "Yeah. Yeah that sounds good."

When they pulled into the restaurant, the boys got out of the vehicle and walked inside to be hit with the strong aroma of grilling meat. They took a seat at a table, and a waitress came over to serve them.

"Hello," she said sweetly. "I'm Katie, and I'll be your server today." She handed them two menus. "Do you know what you would like to drink?"

"Beer for me, thanks," Dean said. Katie wrote that down before turning to Sam.

"Um... just a water for me."

"Alright," she said after scribbling that down. "I'll be right back with your drinks." She left and Sam opened his menu to try and find something to eat.

He browsed over the options and landed on one that sounded pretty basic. He thought he'd give that one a try.

"Here you are," Katie said as she set the drinks at their table. "Have you decided what you want to order?"

"Yes," Dean said. "I'll have the sin city burger."

"Um... can I just have a salad?" Sam said a bit awkwardly.

"Of course. I'll be right back with your meal." Katie said brightly as she walked off.

After dinner, Sam and Dean went to the motel and entered their room. Sam sat on the edge of one of the beds, while Dean crashed in the other. Sam just couldn't sleep. There was too much on his mind. He couldn't stop thinking about this "Gabriel" character. He debated whether or not he should tell Dean. He was his brother, right? He'd be able to trust him!

But at the same time, he wanted to keep the memory to himself. He didn't want anyone to get their hopes up about his memory just to be crushed if it were nothing. He didn't want anyone to get hurt, physically or emotionally. He just didn't know what the better option was.

Suddenly, Sam remembered Castiel, and how he had done something that made him remember. If he really was an angel, could he possibly confide in him? Could he even help Sam remember more? The thing is, Sam didn't know how to contact Castiel. He decided he'd ask Dean about it in the morning.

He crawled under his covers to attempt to sleep. It didn't come until about an hour later. He slowly drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

Yay! An actual update! Sorry it took so long, but I was trying to come up with a way to keep the story moving. But hey! This chapter is a bit longer, isn't it? I know I know. It's not long enough.

So Sam still has his love of rabbit food. He's also debating about telling people about Gabriel. The question is, will he actually go through with talking to Cas about it?

Well, that's it for now. Until the next update!
