Tamia could feel her palms sweat as she walked next to Nancy and Robin up the stairs to the library, she knew that her mother was working today which would make her visit all the harder. To make matters worse on the way to the library Nancy told the two of them about the theory that Wayne had told her, Tamia knew that Wayne wouldn't throw that theory out there just because, so despite what Robin thought Tamia thinks that maybe Wayne is on to something. "I'm sorry I still can't get this straight, Wayne thinks that Victor Creel escaped from Pennhurst Asylum and that he's the one running around committing these murders?" Beside Tamia Nancy hummed. "Pretty much."
"But Victor committed the eyeball murders, way back in the '50s," Robin says as they reach the door of the library. "Well it actually '59 but I know Wayne. I know that if he brought this theory to light that we should at least check it out." Tamia felt the need to defend Wayne considering he wasn't here to defend himself, Robin sent Tamia an apologetic look as Nancy swung the door open. "Look the only thing that I'm saying is it predates Eleven, our friend by about 30 years which makes Victor around 70 years old. Do we think he can do that?" Robin adds as they walk towards the desk, Tamia reaches it first and dings the bell. "He's a grandpa murderer, who can turn invisible and lift people into the air." Tamia presses her lips together at Robin's comment. "I know doesn't make sense, but that's why I said it was a shot in the dark," Nancy adds knocking her shoulders against Tamia's. "We have to look, it doesn't hurt anyone to do that," Tamia says nodding at Robin, she lets out a sigh and rolls her shoulders when she sees her Mom walking towards the desk. "Hello, how I can help- Tamia?" Francine was in shock when she saw her daughter flanked by two girls on the other side of the desk.
"Hi Mom, can we get the keys to the basement archives?" Tamia clasped her hands that were on top of the counter. Francine looked shocked and a little hurt before she nodded. "You need to talk to her." Robin looks toward Tamia when Francine was out of earshot because had a stack full of books in her arms. "I'm going to, you two are going to go down to the basement first and I'll be up here talking to Mom." Tamia looks at both Nancy and Robin to make sure they are listening, and they both nod. They don't have to wait too long before Francine comes back with the key, she holds them out and Nancy takes them with a smile. "There you go, be sure to return them when you're done." Francine but Tamia knew it was fake because it didn't reach her eyes.
"Mom, I'm fine." Tamia walked around the front desk once it was just her and Francine. "I know that baby, you've told me. But why won't you come home?" Francine puts her hands on Tamia's arms once she was within reach. Tamia hesitated before deciding she could tell the truth or at least part of it. "Because I'm with Eddie." Tamia kept her voice low so no one could hear besides Francine, she gasped and closed her eyes quickly shaking her head in disapproval. "Honey, I know he's your friend but he killed Chrissy." Tamia knew this was coming but it still stung to hear that her mother thinks her best friend could kill her girlfriend. "Mom, he didn't and he wouldn't. He knew about me and Chrissy, he would never hurt her." Francine slightly scoffed before looking at her daughter, she lifted her hand and brushed one of her braids away from her face. "We will talk about this at home, with your Father," Francine said with a hint of finality to her tone.
Tamia quickly shook her head and stepped back making Francine's arms fall from Tamia's arms. "I can't, I'll be home when I can but Eddie needs my help, Mom. He didn't do this and I'm going to clear his name, he would do the same for me. I can't fully explain right now but I promise you, he would never. He knows that I would hurt him, he's my best friend Mom. Please, believe me, and if you can't do that then trust me. Trust that your daughter is making the right choices, you taught me to do the right thing and that's what I'm doing." Tamia licked her lips before she gave her Mom a confident nod, she hoped that her parents would trust her enough to do what was right because that's what she was taught so much that it was ingrained in her brain.
At times it didn't feel like Tamia was doing the right thing, especially now as she was walking away leaving her Mother behind the desk in the front but Tamia knew that she had to do this. She wasn't going to let whatever killed her girlfriend get away with it, whether it was a 70-year-old man or not.
