Chapter 15, When I Die
Marty's POV

I had a strong feeling her brother was lying to me. I went to go talk to Ariel. When I spot him he was buying lunch. But when I saw what he was buying I knew he had been lying to me. He was buying lunch for himself and for Novah. He bought a tea and a chicken salad. Her favorite lunch combo.

Anger filled inside of me. I went to go confront her in his room. Before he could get back up to his room. And I rushed there with wings on my feet.

I had to get to her before Victor did. He was not going to hurt her. I loved that woman. I had to tell her how I felt. Before I lost her the way I lost my last lover. 

I get up to Areil's room in the hallway. I noticed something. I hear talking in the hall. I hear Novah. I also hear a man's voice talking to her in the hall. Victor. My heart about stops. I see him holding onto her. Hostage. With a gun at her hip.

"You will marry me Novah. And Marty is going to be in front to watch!" he laughs. 

"Please leave Marty out of this! He was only looking out for me" she begs. 

I grabbed my cell phone and called the police.

"What is your emergency" they answer.

"I found one of America's most wanted here at the hotel. They have a hostage. His name is Victor" I begin to tell her softly. "I am whispering so they can't hear me"

"Alright sir" the woman says. "I will send disasters' out to check it out"

"Thank you" I say. I give her the rest of the information. And Novah's name.

"Please hurry" I say. "she is in great danger" I beg as I hang up.

The cops were not going to get here in time to save Novah. She was not going to marry that jerk. I would never allow that to happen. Ever!

I follow them down the hall way. They did not take an elevator. I follow them on the long staircase. I was hurrying and I trip on myself. They notice. They look up and spot me.

"Marty! He has a gun! Look out!" cries Novah in alarm.

I make my way to their side. I slug at Victor hitting in in the jaw. He drops Novah.

"Run!" I demand to her.

"I won't leave you" she cries.

"GO!" I ordered her.

I get in a fight with Vicor. She takes off for help. She was free. I slug him again making him drop his gun.  He scrambles down to grab his gun. I to get it from him. We fight over it. He punches me in the gut. I am winded out. He grabs his gun again.

SHIT.

My heart is racing. I fight him for it. I was not going to let him hurt her with that.

"You need to let her go lover boy" snaps Victor.

"I will never let you take her!" I yell.

"She was never yours" he laughs. "get over her"

I struggle to get his gun out of his hands. He is trying to take off on me to go after Novah. I was not about to let that happen. He would hurt her. Or worse kill her off.

"Police! Hands up" someone orders. Men in blue were here at last. I felt happy.

A gun shot rings out. 

"You will never have her if I can't" laughs Victor. 

I look down to see I was shot. In my stomach. I fall to the floor.

"We need an ambulance. The man has been hit" a police declares.

They take Victor away. That was all that mattered. He was caught. He was away from Novah. At last. She was safe. I smile as I hold my hand on my bleeding stomach. 

"MARTY!" exclaims Novah when she spots me there. 

"Marty has been shot! Someone save him please" she begs. Tears stream down her face as she rushes to my side.

She picks me up gently in her arms.

"Marty why? I had him under control. I was going to get him arrested" she cries. "he shot you"

Tears were in her eyes.

"I will be okay they are coming" I say as I shake. She kisses my forehead.

"Marty, I can't lose you" she softly says. "what am I going to do without you?"

"You will not have to worry. I am not going anywhere" I promise her.

"This is all my fault" she woefully says.

"I will be okay" I promise her.

"Miss you have to move out of the way so we can help your friend" says a worker.

"Alright" says a tearful Novah.

"What is going on?" Ariel says as he finds us.

"Marty has been shot" cries Novah. 

"They caught him. They caught Victor our girl is safe" I tell him.

"Marty" my friend worries over me.

"Keep him safe, I can't lose him. Can I ride with him?" I hear Novah begging the workers.

"Stay awake if you can sir" they are demanding to me.

I feel them load me on a stretcher.

"You can ride with him" someone is telling her. Soon I am being taken to the hospital. Novah is at my side. 

"I need to tell you something" I say as I feel pain and I am tired.

"Marty stay awake" she begs me.

She is holding my hand.

"I have to let you know" I weakly say.

"Marty we can talk once you are better" she promises me.

"Novah, please listen" I softly say.

"Go for it Marty. Keep calm" she says as she holds my hand.

"I love you" 

After that everything was in a blur. I closed my eyes to rest.

"Marty stay with me!" I hear her begging with fear. But I can't open them. I am to tired.
