Chapter 14, Part Of Me
Novah's POV

I knew I hurt Marty deeply. And that he may never forgive me for running off on him. But this was the only way that I could get rid of Victor out of my life and out of his life. Now he was in danger all because of me. I was not okay with that. I loved Marty. I did not want him to get hurt or worse killed off.

I made it back home. And now Marty was already home searching the world for me.

He was pissed. And I was hiding out at my brother Ariel's hotel room. He called over here and I made him lie and say he had not saw me.

"Why are we lying to Marty? After all the man has done for you?" my brother angrily asks me. 

"This is for Marty! They were trying to hurt Marty, not just me. I would die if anything happened to him because of me" I softly say. I sit on the couch next to my brother. 

"You love him don't you?" he asks me.

Tears come to my eyes and I nod. "Yes, I do very much. More than I ever loved any one in my life before" I admit. "do not tell Marty that" I demand. 

"He has a right to know how you feel. You know he has been in love with you for years" exclaims Ariel. "he would want to know"

"That you are wrong about brother dear. He told me he used to have feelings for me. He does not any more. That has changed. We are friends is all" I argue.

"I do not think so. I think he is lying to you" argues my brother. "I think you two need to talk this out and sort out everything"

"No, okay? Now drop it" I snap. "Once I get rid of Victor, I will make sure I am out of your lives for good. All of you. And you will never have to put up with me ever again" I say as anger builds up in me.

"Novah we all love you and you know this. We only want the best life for you. I know life has been so hard on you. But Marty can help you. He has been looking out for you. He lost his first love to violence. And I know he does not want that to happen to you" explains Ariel.

"I know that. I am a big girl. I can handle myself and whatever messes I come up into" I scoff. "with or without Marty" 

"Marty is a great guy. He does not deserve to get ditched by you" he tells me.

That stings.

"I am not ditching anyone brother. This is between Marty and myself not you" I state the facts.

He places a hand on my shoulder. 

"Think about what I said please. For Marty's sake" says Ariel.

"I will" I promise.

I was getting annoyed. I needed something to eat. And a walk.

"I am going to grab lunch. Want anything?" I ask.

"Oh no you are staying put" he argues.

"Fine, I want something good. A chicken salad. And a tea" I say.

"Alright but you stay here" he demands. He grabs his wallet then heads out the door.

I wait until he is gone then I look out the door. No one was going to keep telling me what to do. I knew what to do. I had to go out in the open.

I had to lure Victor to me then all this would be over and done with. I would not have to go into hiding any longer. We would all get out lives back. And Marty would move on with his.

I would move on with mine. Somehow. I grab my purse. Tears come to me. Thinking of my life without him in it. I grew to love that man with all my heart. I head out and shut the door to the room. Someone grabs me. I gasp. And they put their hand over my mouth.

"Hello Novah" he speaks in my ear softly. "you scream it will be the end"

"Vic" I squeak.

"You make a sudden move I will have to kill off that boy toy you have grown to love. Marty" he declares. He did know about Marty. "he has been a thorn in my side this whole time"

"Marty was only looking out for me. He is my brother's best friend" I explain. 

"I know and your lover" he snaps. "I know you two were kissing at that bar. My men told me what you two have been up to" 

"Please deal with me. Marty is a good man. He has not done anything" I plead with Victor.

"If you go with me as you were meant to do" he asks me. "as you had promised me long ago you would do"

I shiver. He always saw me as his possession. Something he could keep.

Not someone he could love. He did not know how to love.

"Fine" I bitterly speak out.

"And you will marry me as you promised" he demands to me. Holding me tighter to him.

"Victor no" I snap. "we talked about this. I am not the marrying kind"

"Marry me as promised or I will have to pay a visit to Marty" Victor says to me.

"Fine, I will. I will marry you" I sniff.

"I want your brothers there. You will tell everyone it is your will. And we made up" he states.

"Alright" I agree.

"And Marty will be invited to watch" he chuckles.

"No, please leave him out of this" I beg. Tears come to me. Fear settles in.

"If he is not there to watch I will make sure the something worse happens in his fate" Victor promises me. "you know I can make it happen"

"Fine, I will invite them all. Marty included. I doubt Marty will come to this" I say. I hoped Marty would not come to this horrible wedding day. 

"We were meant to be together. And it is time you saw that" he says to me.

"You tried to kill me off for ratting you out" I say.

"Only lovers words" he laughs. "we fight. We break up. Now it is time to make up" he teases.

"You sicken me" I state bitterly.

"Come. We have a wedding to plan" he laughs with joy.

The man had lost his mind. I knew I would never love him. I was not going to be his wife. There had to be a way to stop this wedding. And get this man behind bars where he belonged. Once and for all.
