Chapter 13, Where Did You Go?
Marty's POV

When I woke that morning off and on Novah was sleeping on my chest sound asleep. Resting peacefully. But when I was fully awake for my day
Novah was no where to be found. I checked in the shower in the bathroom.

No signs of her anywhere.
Panic began to rise in my chest. 

Where could she have gone to? She had to be here. She knew how important it was for me to stay beside her.

We had a very good talk about this the night before. Fear settles in me. I rush out the door. I see a man we spotted the night before working on the rooms. Cleaning them.

"Excuse me sir! Did you see a beautiful woman? I can't find her anywhere. She is staying here overnight with me. Her name is Novah. She had long brown hair she was tall like a model" I explain to the man. He chuckles.

"Maybe you scared her off after last night" he jokes with me.

"Please sir this is no time to joke around her life is in danger. And I have to find her!" I plead.

"I did see a woman this morning heading out" he admits to me.

"You did?"

"She was like you said stunning with long brown hair" he adds. 

"Where is she? Where did she go?" I beg to know. 

"I last saw her running to a taxi cab and she left" he explains. "I am sorry that is all I know. I just remember thinking why is someone that stunning here in this flea bag place?" he laughs.

"She left?" I state. Shock sets in me as the man walks away.

How could she?

I go back into my room. She had taken all of her clothing with her. I had not noticed until now. Then I saw a note she left for me on the in table beside the bed.

It read:

Dear Marty,

Thank you for always looking out for me and taking care of me. I am so grateful for you. But this is not your battle. This is my mess. My battle. I have to deal with this and the only way I can is if I go back to the issue and get my ex back in jail where he belongs. I will be ok. I promise you. And I will be in touch with you soon. I am sorry if this hurt you in anyway.

I crinkle the note in my hands with anger. She had to be found before it was too late. I quickly pack my things and then headed out the door. Checking out of the room. Then getting in my rental car and headed on my way home as fast as I could get there. 

I get back to the hotel where her brothers were. I check in there after I had returned the rental car. Then I get checked into my room that was near her brothers room. I head to go talk to them. She had to be there with them. I counted on that. I pounded on Gabe's door first. No answer. I pound a little louder.

"Coming! Coming give me a moment" I hear him say.

"Marty what is going on? You are back?" he asks me.

He yawns looking sleepy.

He lets me come into the room.

"Where is she? She said she was coming back here" I demand to know.

Gabe shuts the door behind me. 

"Novah? We assumed she was with you" he tells me.

"She left me and then came back here" I state. "she said she was coming back here" 

"I have not seen her yet maybe my brother has" yawns Gabe. 

"Can you check your messages and see if she tried to call you?" I beg. "she is in a lot of danger" I remind him.

"Marty, look she can handle herself. And she has for a long time. You do not need to do that. She is a big girl" he says to me.

"I care more about your sister than you do" I say bluntly. 

Gabe blinks. He is taken back.

"She is in that much trouble?" Gabe asks softly.

"Yes" I say.

"What are we going to do?" I demand to know.

We sit down on the couch there in the room. He checks his messages on his phone as I asked him to do. But no messages from Novah yet.

I run my fingers in my hair. She was going to be here. And where I did not know? How were we going to save Novah?

"Marty I am sure she will show up. Let me call my brother and see if he heard from her" Gabe mentions to me. He gets the phone to call his brother.

"Ariel has not heard from her yet either" declares Gabe.

He looks worried now. As he should have been before this.

I call the front desk.

She had not checked into a room yet. No one by her name. Where was she? She said she was going to come back here to Vegas!

But she was no where to be found. We had to find her before Victor found her. He was going to find her before we did. I had a bad feeling about it.

"Marty?"

"Yes?"

"Are you still in love with my sister?" asks Gabe.

"I never stopped loving her" I admit to him. 

"Wow" he sighs. "you are in a mess"

"I am in deep" I laugh.

"She does this to many men. You will get over her" Gabe promises me.

"I doubt that" I mutter. 

"You will. And there is a woman out there who is perfect for you. Novah is not that woman. She is not the kind to settle down or marry off. That is not how she has ever been. I am sorry. And I know you. You want that kind of a woman. Someone to marry. Someone to spend forever with" Gabe softly says to me. I know he was trying to make me feel better, but it made me feel ten times worse.

"She can be that kind of woman. You do not know her like I do" I bitterly remark. "once she gets away from Victor, she can have a whole new world. She deserves it all"

I meant it. I wanted to give that all to her. I would if she would let me.
