Jackson never left my side and neither did Amanda. As we were walking I looked behind me to see Carl watching us closely.

When he noticed I was looking he quickly turned and started talking to Yuliah.

I shook my head and stared talk to Amanda. "Thank you for taking care of Jackson for me." I said smiling at her.

She smiled back at me and said, "It was my pleasure." Then her whole facial features changed and she turned and faced the front and then faced to the ground. I looked at her wit a concerned/confused face. I then looed down t mine and Jackson's hands tat were combined.

"Hey Jackson," I said smiling. He looked up at me and smiled and said, "Sure" he then walked up to Jason and began walking beside him.

I then looked back at Amanda. "What's wrong Amanda?" She tilted her head up and I could see her eyes were glazed over.

I grabbed her shoulder making us both slow down and letting everyone pass us. I then stopped us both and turned her to face me.

"What's wrong Amanda? And don't tell my nothing" I said look at her.

She looked at me with said eyes, and said, "When the world went to shit, I was kind of happy, I didn't have to worry about bullies, or my dad having his drinking buddies around. I felt free. So I left my house, my dad. I haven't seen him since. Then I went to your house. Then I forgot that you and your dad were at the hospital with your mom. So when I got there, I walked in and started yelling your name, then...."
She passed and took in a breath and continued, "I was a walker, the scary part was that it looked just like you," she started to cry, "So when I killed it, all I could think was, Oh my God, I just killed my best friend. Then I found Jackson. He was so young, I didn't tell him until he was older, he's 10 now and he forgave me a month after I told him what happened. But I still couldn't forgive myself," she started to shake as I started to cry more, "I still don't." When she was done, she started to sob and shake even more. I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her into a hug. She squeezed me back. She kept sobbing into my shoulder, when I pulled back, I held he shoulders and looked at her and said, "It's ok, I'm still here, I'm still your friend, best friend actually," I let out a laugh and she let out a laugh while she started to calm down. "I'm not going to balm you, trust me" as I finished I pulled her back into a hug.

After a few minutes she calmed down and we began walking again. When we caught up to everyone, Jason asked, "Where were you two?" Amanda was about to tell him everything when I said, "Just catching up, that's all." Everyone nodded their heads and we began walking again.

Amanda began talking to Jason
Molli and Jackson began talking
Yuilah, Luna, and Adrianna started talking, well Yuilah and Adrianna did most of the talking while Luna listened closely. Then that left Carl and I.

Great

Carl and I walked next to each other not saying word. You could feel the tension and awkwardness between us.

After awhile Carl finally said something, "You never said you had a brother." I looked at him and had slightly wide eyes. He then turned and looked at me with a calm face. I starred at him while he starred back at me while we walked. I took in his features.

I never knew why he was so self conscious, then I noticed the dirty white bandage across his face and over his right eye.

He all was seemed so bothered by it. But it never bothered me.

"Y/n" he said. I shook my head and said, "Yeah" he smirked a little and said, "I said, You never told me you had a brother." "Well you never asked" I responded. He let out a chuckle.

I then asked a question that had been eating at me,

"Why are you self conscious about your eye."

As he went silent, I saw him stiffen.

Shit

Was all I could think.

"You don't have to answer that, I was just-" he cut me off and and looked forward and said, "No it's fine. It's just that," it let out a sigh and began again, "It makes feel disgusted with myself when I look in a mirror. It makes me look what I am."

"What are you?" I asked starring at him with confusion.

He looked at me and said, "A monster"

I starred at him and said, "Carl you're not a monster. In this world you can be a Man or a Monster. But you're not a Monster. All the things you've done might make you think that you're a Monster but in reality it makes you a Man." He starred at me and gave me a smile.

"Thanks" he said.

"Anytime" I responded with a smile.

We were already at the gate when I said that so when they let us in I turned my head to Carl and said, "I don't think you look like a Monster."

He looked at me and called out to me since I had already walked a few feet way away from him, "Then what does it make me look like?"

I turned to him and smirked,

"A Badass"

So I hoped y'all like this chapter!
And I am so sorry it took me soooo long to update. But I started high school August 16th and I have been trying to keep my grades up and they are up and plus I'm on a drill team also and we have been having practices on Monday's and Wednesday's from 3:32 (which is when I get out of school) to 5:30. And then we preform on Friday's. BUT! I will be more on top of updating more.
