Chapter 16: Kisses

Mirio

One Week Later

Me and Tamaki walked side by side like we usually did.

Just like best friends used to do.

I looked down at his hand and held it in my own. He squeezed it once and smiled brightly at me. For a while, I felt things changing between us. It was intense and magical, and every second was perfect.

I smiled wider and moved in front of him, grabbing his waist and lifting his small body up, spinning him around. "Tamaaaa!!!"

"Ahh! Mirio! Too fast!"

"I just realized that we love each other and it feels amazing! Like I won the lottery 3 times!!"

"We have been! For a while now!" He whined, squirming.

I kissed his nose, looking at him in awe. He gave me a shy smile, and rubbed his nose against mine.

"May I?" I asked softly, giving him a warm smile.

"O-Oh, Of course!" He said as confidently as he could. It just sounded like a little kid trying to be an adult, and that was just adorable.

"Alright~"

I chuckled and kissed his lips gently. Tamaki hesitantly returned the favor.

He held my shoulders as a smile creeped up his face. I started to laugh as he got flustered at the feeling, even more than usual as I teased him.

He buried his head in my neck and dug his hands into my shoulders.

"Mm..stap.."

"I loveeee you, that's why!" I exclaimed, giving him one last kiss to the temple before hovering my lips near his ear. I felt him shiver in my touch, my breath brushing against his skin.

"You're smile is beautiful, no wonder you hide it so much," I whispered, causing him to get more red.

I wanted to make sure I gave him enough love to last the whole day. During school days, we never showed affection toward each other in public like Tamaki wanted. We tried our best to act like friends. Tried.

It was difficult..due to me being a clingy boyfriend, and Tama for his quirk getting a little too out of hand.

I placed him down and let go, he just buried his face in my shirt and shook his head. "Mirio.."

"Whaaaat!"

"Mm..

"Butterfly, don't shy away from me! Come on, spit it out!"

"This time..I want.."

I chuckled and beamed. "You want me to talk during the presentation today? Sure I could!"

"Want you.." He muttered, looking up at me with bright sparkling eyes.

"A-Ah-" I stuttered, my face turning a shade of pink. I looked away and laughed nervously. "Ah-"

"You're face is red..?" He asked, grinning slightly. "Did I fluster you?"

"No! No, no! Shut up!"

"I think I did..you look pretty in red.."

"Mmmm!-" I squished his face and kissed him deeply, adding more affection into it. He gasped and gave in.

I used one of my hands to guide Tamaki to my waist and kept them there. There was a few moments before I pulled away. He stared at me in shock, his face as red as a tomato.

"Hmph, now that you're quiet-" I teased, holding his wrist in my hand as we continued walking.

His wrist, one of special places I held dear to me. The reason for this was because I could feel his heartbeat.

It went thump, thump, thump, as a heart normally went.

If it ever skipped a beat, 2 quick thumps and a nervous glance, I knew something made him flustered.

If it ever beat at a quick pace, he was nervous or scared. I was able to read him, and observe the situation way before he ever panicked.

"Guess what?" I called before grinning. He slowly looked at me and his heart skipped a beat. I grinned more and chuckled.

"About the presentation- We are going to help get ideas for class 1-A in a day or two. They want to get some creative ideas going for a prom coming up! So, that'll give us time to hang out some more!"

"O-Oh..right. I've heard about t-that." Tama comments, his voice shaky from the incident. "When..is it?"

"Oh, don't worry! It's in a few weeks.." I say before going quiet.

Now that I've thought about it..

I've always gone to every single prom and formal, just to hang out with my classmates, and to get the crowd to do their thing. And all of a sudden, I realized that Tamaki hasn't gone to one of those. He always wanted to stay home.

I smile brightly, looking at him. Tamaki didn't notice until he saw me eerily quiet with a huge smile on my face.

"..What is it?"

"Can I ask you to prom? Would you want to go with me?" I asked.

Once we got to the school, Tamaki let go of my hand and returned to his shy, quiet demeanor. "U..Uhm.."

"Please???" I pleaded. "For once I'd like to see you! Not in a uniform! In something you think looks incredible! Because I know that someone as pretty as you would look adorable in anything. I just.." I sighed and smiled slightly, a little discouraged by the unsure answer.

"I love everything about you, Tama. I won't judge you. And I won't make you feel bad..I'll buy the tickets, I'll pick you up around 8 pm. Let me handle everything and it'll be okay."

"Mirio..I just..I'm not into that." He starts."I don't want.."

"I know, but- I really want to see you try! I know you can do it. We can even go as best friends, if that..helps. I want to be with you." I state.

"You think so?"

"Yeah! It could be our first date afterall. I'd- look forward to that."

Tamaki smiled and shuffled his feet, looking down. "A date?"

"Yeah!" I exclaimed.

"Mhm..but you're still picking me up." He mumbled, a tint of pink coating his face. "And I don't have money on me.."

"Don't worry. I've got it, butterfly," I kissed his nose, letting my hands glide through his hair before letting go. "Love you. See you later!"

He got more flustered as he watched me leave. "I.."

"Yea?" I asked, waiting for his answer.

"I- I love you.."

More UA students started flooding into the building. Tamaki glanced at the crowd before waving at me. "Bye." Before leaving me there, a bit shocked.

He said it..

"He said it.." I muttered to myself before jumping in the air with joy. "HE SAID IT!!"

Everyone began to stare at me, but I didn't care. If they only knew that I had such an awesome boyfriend..

"You seem happy-" Nejire called from behind me, her usual smile and excited demeanor. "What's up?"

"Ah- Uh- Tama said good morning! To me! It was- It was really nice-" I state nervously, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Awe dang, I missed the Tama greeting?!" She whined, throwing her head back. "You're too good at that you know? Getting him to talk, it's rare to hear him say at least 5 words in a sentence-"

"You just gotta be patient!" I add before winking.

She laughed and we both headed into our class. We went through the door, and I could feel a churning in my stomach..

I didn't like this..

It was the group of guys that picked on Tamaki at that ice cream shop a few weeks back. I scoffed, and Nejire noticed my anger. "Mirio? What's got your head boiling?"

"Those little 'jerkwads." I grumbled before sitting into my seat.

Nejire gave me a worried glance before turning her attention to some of her friends nearby.

Unfortunately, he sat behind me. I could feel him breathing down my back. I rolled my neck a bit and sighed heavily.

Don't engage.

Don't engage.

Don't enga-

"Nice build." He states to me, giving me a grin. "At least someone does."

'Let it go..' I could hear Tamaki's voice in my head..just telling me over and over.

'It's okay..'

'Let's just go home.'

I smiled softly before turning to the guy. "Thanks, I appreciate it."

"You know," He snuck me a glance and handed me a small letter. "Me and my friends are holding down a sick party in my dorm. You should go, let loose, have a good time."

"Ah, really? That's," I paused and chuckled.

If..me and Tama go..

We could prove him wrong.

I could get him to apologize.

Make him beg on his knees in front of his friends.

Then, Tama could see how much I love him, that I'd stand up for him and make it all go away.

If he knows that I could protect him, he'd see that prom wasn't a big deal afterall!

I shined a bright toothy grin,"Sure thing. Make sure you bring the best of the best."

He chuckled and put his arms behind his head. "Tsh, I'm counting on it."
