Farren woke with a smile etched on his face as though it had been there all night. And judging by the position him and Kaden were lying in, he didn't doubt it had.
If someone had told him three weeks ago that he would be sharing a bed with Kaden Rivers of his own accord, and even cuddling him, he would have laughed in their face.
He lay there in comfortable warmth feeling more than content, their skin on skin contact making his blood tingle. He stayed in that position for a while more until he felt Kaden stir in his arms.
"Kaden you awake?" He asked in a hushed whisper, nuzzling his face into the back of Kaden's neck.
A moment later Kaden let out some sort of muffled noise of confirmation that Farren took as a yes.
After another few moments Kaden turned round and faced him through sleepy eyes, Farren kept his arms around Kaden as the two lay facing each other in comfortable silence.
Farren leaned forward and pressed their foreheads together. "Hey," he said softly, unable to fight back the smile on his face.
"Hey," Kaden replied sleepily but happily, untangling one hand from Farren's and trailing it up to his face.
Farren leaned into Kaden's touch, sighing with content before leaning forward and pressing their lips together.
The kiss deepened until they were engrossed in a full on make out session. Eventually Farren pulled away reluctantly.
"I'm hungry." He said, unable to ignore the rumblings for much longer.
"Then eat me," Kaden replied with a smirk before pulling Farren down by his neck and resuming their kiss.
"I'm-" Farren began but was once again cut off by Kaden's lips. "Serious." He tried again, pushing himself off Kaden and standing up.
"Fine." Kaden grumbled, standing up and following him out of the room, but not before stealing another quick kiss.
Kaden cooked them up a plate of hot food, leaving Farren swooning. Not that he would tell Kaden that.
He came up behind Kaden, who was still shirtless, and wrapped his arms around his waist and resting his head on the crook of Kaden's neck as he cooked.
Not long after they sat at the island, tearing into the hot breakfast that Kaden had prepared.
As they ate Farren decided to ask Kaden something that had been pressing on his mind lately.
"Kaden?"
"Yeah?" Kaden replied, his mouth full of scrambled eggs.
"Gross." Farren scrunched up his nose in disgust, earning him a smirk and a snigger from Kaden.
"What were you going to ask?" Kaden said after swallowing his food.
Farren hesitated for a moment before continuing. "What's up with your parents?"
He didn't miss the flash of sadness that crossed Kaden's face, but as soon as it came it was gone.
"What do you mean?" Kaden asked, and Farren could hear the forced innocence in his tone.
"You know what I mean. Where are they?"
"I don't know. Work, probably. I think they stay in the city most of the time."
Farren couldn't help but feel bad for Kaden. How could his parents leave someone as fucking great as Kaden alone?
"Do you get on with them?"
"I don't even know." Kaden replied simply, shrugging his shoulders.
"What do you mean don't you know?" Farren asked, his brow creasing with confusion.
"I barely know them." Kaden said, the tone in his voice telling Farren that the conversation was over. But he wasn't going to give up that easily.
"Talk to me Kaden, you can tell me. Telling you all that stuff about myself really took a weight off my chest." He said sincerely, reaching across and taking Kaden's hand in his own.
He could see in Kaden's eyes that he was debating with himself, and could see the exact moment that Kaden gave in and decided to open up.
"There's not much to it," he began with a shrug. "It's like this. I don't even know them properly, and them me. My whole life they've just ignored me. I do good in a test, they don't even care. I win a piano recital, it's like I might as well have not gone at at all. They just don't care about me at all, simple as that."
Farren felt his heart tear up for Kaden. While he often felt the loss of his parents, he always had Grace and Jenny to turn to.
He couldn't imagine anything worse then feeling so alone around your own family.
He squeezed Kaden's hand, noticing that the other boy seemed to be close to tearing up. "Hey, it's okay. You have me Kaden. Besides, it's their loss."
"I know but," Kaden began, and Farren's heart broke even more at the sound of his voice cracking. "It's just so fucking hard when they make me feel so worthless. It's like they wouldn't even care if I was fucking dead." He spat out, his voice cracking and tears streaming down his face at the end.
Farren immediately went to his side, enveloping him in a bear hug. As he help him he mumbled words of comfort softly in Kaden's ears, as Kaden's cried quietly.
"I feel selfish crying about this with you, I mean you'd probably do anything for your parents to still be alive. But it's just hard, you know?" Kaden said shamefully.
"Hey, hey. Don't think like that. You have every right to be upset, I mean even if my parents aren't with us, it doesn't make your problems any less significant." Farren said reassuringly rubbing Kaden's back soothingly. "Like I said, it's their loss." He said, looking Kaden straight in the eye before tilting his chin upwards to connect their lips in a loving kiss.
"God I'm lucky to have you." Kaden said when they pulled away. "I know I never met your parents but still, I know that if they were here with us today they'd be super proud of you."
"I don't know about that." Farrrn chuckled back lightly, though he couldn't help but feel proud.
"Well I do." Kaden said standing up and pulling Farren back in for a loving hug. His arms wound around Farren's neck while Farren wrapped his around Kaden's waist. They stayed like that for god knows how long, just simply being there for each other.
And it was at that moment Farren came to realise he needed more than a friend with benefits.
He needed Kaden, just as Kaden needed him. Even if he didn't know it yet.

Kaden looked up at the sound of footsteps entering the sitting room, where he was flopped on the couch watching Friends.
All those years he was more interested in Joey than Rachel and he never realised he was gay? Now that he had come to terms with it it seemed so blatantly obvious that he wondered how he had missed it before.
"Want anything to eat?"
It was Farren's voice that interrupted the show. Kaden looked back over his shoulder before replying. "Did we not just have breakfast?"
"Yeah," Farren replied with a shrug.
"And you want to eat again?"
"This coming from the guy who made me stop for food three times during a half hour car journey?" Farren said with a laugh, throwing it back to the time they had gone to the soccer pitch with Jesse and Luke.
"You have a point there." Kaden said with a grin. "I'll eat anything, as long as I'm not cooking."
"Lazy bones." Farren replied with a roll of his eyes. "Why don't we make something together?"
Kaden snorted at the idea. "Like what?"
"I don't know. A cake? Or brownies, I've been craving them recently."
"Pot brownies?" Kaden suggested with a devilish smirk, causing Farren to once again roll his eyes.
"Shut up Kaden."
"Make me."
"You really wanna try that again?" Farren said with a smirk.
"By all means," Kaden replied, making his way over to where Farren stood and winding his arms around his neck.
"Horny bastard," Farren said with yet another roll of his eyes, before leaning in for the kiss.
Kaden's lips felt on fire as soon as they were met with Farren's. They moulded their lips together and Kaden found himself melting into the kiss. His right hand moved from it's position around Farren's neck and reached up to cup his cheek, while the left stayed cupping the back of Farren's neck.
Kaden felt one of Farren's hands sliding around his waist, leaving a trail of butterflies wherever it touched. His other hand wound in Kaden's blond locks, causing Kaden to almost lose his shit when Farren tugged lightly on his hair.
The kiss deepened, becoming more rough as Kaden pushed Farren against the wall, tilting his head as to get a better reach. Their tongues clashed together leaving Kaden lightheaded.
When they finally pulled away Kaden felt dizzy with glee and excitement, and apparently so did his.. southern regions. The same could be said for Farren thought, so at least he wasn't the only one awkwardly turned on.
"You might wanna take care of that." Farren said with a smirk.
"Oh shut up Farry, not like you're any different. Think just 'cause you're wearing shorts I wouldn't notice?" He said with a playful smirk of his own.
"Whatever, I'm grabbing a shower." Farren said with a laugh, placing one last soft peck on Kaden's lips.

Kaden pulled on a casual t-shirt over his towel dried just as Farren barged in the room.
"Thanks for knocking." Kaden drawled lazily.
"I'm bored." Farren's declared.
"Hi bored, I'm Kaden."
Kaden found himself laughing at the look of disgust of Farren's face. "Ew, bro. That was such a dad joke."
"That's why you call me daddy." Kaden shot back with a wink.
"I'm just gonna pretend I didn't hear that." Said Farren, his nose scrunched up in distaste.
"You can't unhear it, son." Kaden laughed in reply, emphasising the word 'son' for Farren's discomfort.
"Gross. Now come on, let's do something."
"You can do me?" Kaden winked.
"God, can you take your mind out of the gutter for two minutes?"
"You can take my mind out of the gutter but you can't take the gutter out of my mind."
Farren rolled his eyes in frustration, and Kaden found himself unable to hold back his snickers. "Jesus Christ you're impossible," Farren sighed.
"Okay fine, I'll show you something," Kaden said, standing up.
"Not your dick." Farren warned wearily, a cautious look guarding his face.
This time it was Kaden's turn to roll his eyes. "No, now follow me." He said, grabbing Farren by the wrist and heading out of the room.
But once he reached the top of the doorway of the room he angled his hand so that his fingers were interlocked with Farren's instead.
And he still got that same tingling sensation all over, even at something as trivial as hand holding.
God he was whipped.
He only let go of Farren's hand when they reached the music room.
"I'm gonna play something for you." Kaden stated with a smile.
"What do you mean?" Farren asked, his confusion evident.
"That's what I'm about to show you," Kaden said, pushing open the door to reveal the grand piano he had so dearly missed over the three weeks.
He noted how Farren's eyes went wide. "You can play this?"
"Yeah. Why's that so shocking?" Kaden replied with a laugh.
"You just don't seem like the classical piano type," Farren replied.
"Why, cause I'm hot?" Kaden asked with a smirk, choosing some sheet music off the shelf and sitting himself down on the piano stool.
"You're not hot," Farren replied with a laugh.
"Says the one getting it on with me," Kaden replied with a smirk, not giving Farren time to reply as he immediately began playing the music in front of him.
He didn't even have to think about the notes, they just came naturally to him. He found himself putting all his concentration in though. It was as if he wanted to impress Farren, not that he would admit that aloud.
When he played the final chords over the Sonata, he looked up to find Farren staring at him with wide eyes, and Kaden suddenly found himself nervous.
"Well?" He asked.
"That was fucking unreal mate," Farren said in awe, making his way over to where Kaden sat.
"Really?" Kaden asked, pride swelling in his chest.
"Really." Farren confirmed, before leaning down and pressing his lips against Kaden's in a breathtaking kiss that left him wanting more.
