Friday night. Which, for Farren, meant his last night in his own bed for the next three weeks.

There was a party on tonight, of course. But he wasn't in the mood to go. If he wasn't going to see his precious bed for the next three weeks he was going to spend all the time he had with it while he still could.

It may sound overly dramatic, especially coming from an insomniac, but he really just did love his bed.

And another downside was that this would be his last night spent sharing a bed with Kaden. Though, maybe that was for the best. Every night it was becoming increasingly difficult not to just grab Kaden by the face and kiss him. And sharing a bed with him and being able to stare at him for hours didn't make those urges any easier.

Not that he stared at Kaden for hours or anything.

He flopped down on his bed as soon as he arrived home from school, kicking off his shoes as he did. He stripped down to his boxers before crawling into the covers. Grace and Jenny wouldn't disturb him, and Rowan was usually at a friend's house on Fridays.

Which only left-

"Milton, not out partying I see." Kaden said in a loud voice, bursting into the room.

"Evidently." Farren scowled back annoyed, yet at the same time kind of excited, that Kaden would presumably be spending the night in.

"So, I'll order the pizza and you pick the movie?" Kaden asked, probably used to their arrangements by now.

"Sure." Farren replied simply, knowing that their was no point in arguing with Kaden.

"Great." Kaden beamed as he left the room, in an unusually good mood tonight. This was a nice change from his usually grumpy exterior.

Farren flicked through the movies, eventually deciding on 'The Proposal.' What, it was a romcom kinda night! Not that Kaden would care anyway, his favourite movie was 'The Notebook,' for crying out loud.

Speaking of Kaden, not a moment later he came bounding back into the room. "I got you ham and pineapple," he said.

"Thanks," Farren replied, trying not to focus his attention on Kaden as the other boy began to undress before him. Or on the fact that Kaden knew his pizza order.

"Why aren't you going to the party?" He asked, trying to keep his voice level as Kaden slipped into the bed next to him.

Kaden sat on his own side, but at Farren's end so the two were shoulder to shoulder.

"I'm just not." Kaden said with a smile. God, this dude was very happy not to be partying.

"Okay," Farren shrugged, turning his attention back to the television screen and hitting the 'play' button.

***

"That was good." Kaden said, still smiling at the movie as the credits rolled.

"Yeah." Farren agreed with a small laugh.

Kaden sighed contentedly, pushing himself down until his was nearly lying flat one the bed, just the top of his shoulder and head resting against the headboard.

Farren looked down at him, shrugging to himself before mirroring Kaden's position.

Kaden turned to face him, and it was then that Farren noticed that he had small bit of tomato sauce on his cheek.

"Kaden, you missed a spot." He snorted, earning him a confused glance from Kaden.

"What?" Kaden asked.

"On your face, food." He said with a small chuckle.

"Oh." Kaden said, sticking his tongue out to lick it off, but failing as it was beyond his reach.

"Gross man," Farren said, scrunching his nose.

"Did I get it?" Kaden asked, ignoring Farren's comment.

"No. Here, let me." He said, before he could stop himself.

He reached his hand out and, using his thumb, brushed the sauce off Kaden's cheek.

Then, he realised what he was doing. He froze in place, as did Kaden.

The two stared at each other, neither of them daring to make a move. Farren's hand was still on Kaden's cheek.

He had to move, now.

"Got it," he whispered, not expecting his voice to come out as low as it did. He averted his gaze, refusing to meet Kaden's eyes. The air between them had thickened, and Farren knew that any loud movement would shatter this moment.

He went to move his hand, but before he could he felt Kaden's own come to rest over it.

His eyes shot up to meet Kaden's, who was staring intently into his own, his hand still holding his in place.

"Kaden." He managed to breathe out, not knowing when he made the conscious decision to speak.

"Shh." Kaden replied, and Farren obliged straight away.

Kaden took his hand off Farren's, but Farren didn't dare to move it from Kaden's cheek.

Kaden's own hand made it's way onto Farren's cheek, and Farren could feel his breath hitch in his throat from the intense look Kaden was giving him.

"Kaden," he breathed out again, but was once again shushed by Kaden.

Kaden's used his thumb to trace circles on Farren's cheek, sending him into a plethora of emotion.

He noticed how Kaden's eyes dropped down to his lips, making it even harder for him to breath. His eyes too flickered between Kaden's eyes and lips, not knowing where to settle.

He licked his lips, earning him a soft groan from Kaden.

"Farren." This time it was Kaden who spoke.

"Farren, what are you doing to me?" Kaden asked, eyes darkening over before he pulled him closer and finally did what Farren wished he had done since their first kiss.

Pulling him in by the hand resting on his cheek, Kaden connected their lips in a ghost of a kiss, so fleeting that all Farren had to be sure he hadn't imagined the whole thing was the tingling sensation on his lips.

Kaden pulled back, looking deep into his eyes as if searching for something.

Farren didn't dream of pushing him back, instead silently begging him to kiss him again.

Kaden seemed to read the message, as he tangled one hand in Farren's hair and pulled him close for another kiss, this one more firm.

Farren gave all he could into the kiss, refusing to be the one to pull away. This kiss said so much, from both of them. They got lost in each other, their arms nothing but a tangle of limbs.

The feeling of Kaden's rough lips against his own was enough to draw a soft moan from him, which succeeded in pulling Kaden closer to deepen the kiss.

What felt like ten years later they finally broke the kiss, resting their foreheads together. Farren was breathing heavily at this stage, as was Kaden.

"Kaden." He said after a few minutes, finally being the one to break the silence.

"Don't." Kaden cut him off he could continue. "Please don't Farren. Whatever you have to say, can wait until tomorrow." He said, pleading with him through his eyes.

Farren simply nodded, not having the will to argue. He felt emotionally worn out, which was a complete contrast from the electricity that was running through his veins.

"Thanks." Kaden breathed out, untangling himself from Farren and laying down fully on the bed.

Yet Farren couldn't help but notice, and be glad, that Kaden didn't move back to his own end of the bed.

The two lay like that for the rest of the night. Side by side, on their back, and staring up at the ceiling.

Tomorrow, they would talk. But for now, all Farren could think about was how deep he really had fallen for his rival.

XXXXX

Kaden woke with a start as the sunlight streamed in through the window. They must have forgotten to close the curtains last night, damn.

He could hear that Farren was already awake from the way he was tapping away at his phone. Not that Kaden expected him to be asleep. This was Farren Milton, the boy who could go days without a wink of sleep, after all.

He turned over to face Farren, who mirrored his movements upon hearing him, stretching as he did so.

The two lay facing each other, neither of them saying anything, until Farren finally spoke.

"Hey." He said, a small smile gracing his features. Kaden tried to interpret how Farren felt through the little smile he was given, but it wasn't easy.

"Hey." Kaden said back. So far, so good. If only they could leave it like this and not ruin things by talking about the kiss.

But Kaden knew he couldn't avoid it forever. The sooner they talked it out, the better. The last thing either of them needed was this awkward secret hanging over them like a badly cut fringe.

"About last night." He began reluctantly, but was surprised when Farren cut him off. Hey, maybe Milton did have some balls.

"Stop Kaden. Let me talk." He said, surprisingly adamant, leading Kaden to believe that Farren wouldn't be backing down anytime soon.

"Okay." He said with a small shrug, a feeling of dread pooling in his stomach as he waited for Farren to start talking and kill the happiness he felt after last night's kiss.

"Whatever you have to say, save it." Farren began, voice firm. "You can't do this again. Not like you did last time. Kissing me then pretending you feel nothing. You do feel something, I know you do. You wouldn't have kissed me like that if you didn't."

Kaden felt his palms begin to get sweaty. The cat was out of the bag now. Farren knew, there was no point in denying it anymore. But he was saved from having to reply because Farren kept talking.

"But it's okay man. I get. Because I feel something too."

Wait what?

Kaden's head shot up at lightning speed to meet Farren's eyes, and saw the other boy was smiling at him awkwardly.

"You do?" Kaden asked uncertainly, still not believing Farren one hundred percent.

"Yes. I do." Farren clarified, standing by his words. "I don't know what it is Kaden, I really don't. I'm confused about everything, except how I feel about you. Oh god, I sound like such a cringy fool." He said, burying his face in his hands with embarrassment.

Kaden laughed at how cute Farren was being. "Farren you always sound like a cringy fool." He said with a smirk, as Farren rolled his eyes peaking out from his hands.

"Fuck it. I don't care," said Farren. "All I know is that I'm into you. There, I said it."

Kaden couldn't stop the beaming grin that spread. "I guess you're okay too." He shrugged, faking nonchalance.

"Fuck you bro. Only okay?" Farren asked with a glare.

"I mean, your kissing skills are subpar." Kaden said with fake sympathy.

"Really?" Farren asked, leaning closer to him until their noses were touching.

"Really." Kaden repeated in confirmation.

"I'm a good kisser," Farren huffed in annoyance. God he was so cute like this.

"Oh yeah?" Challenged Kaden with a quirk of his brow.

"Mhmm." Farren replied, his eyes trained on Kaden's lips.

"Then prove it." Kaden whispered with a smirk. Farren looked up to meet his eyes, before looking back down and pressing their lips together in a breath taking kiss.

Kaden couldn't deny that this was better than any kiss he had ever experienced. The urgency of Farren's lips against his own was enough to send him into overdrive.

But alas, all good things come to an end and Farren pulled away before Kaden even had the chance to really get into it.

"What are we doing Kaden?" Farren asked as him as he pulled away, not taking his eyes off his.

"I don't know Farren." Kaden sighed.

"I'm not gay. I just feel this way about you." Farren said.

"What way?" He asked in reply.

"Turned on." Farren said with a small laugh and a smirk.

"Horny bastard." Kaden said with a roll of his eyes, punching Farren lightly on the shoulder.

Farren just winked in reply. "What about you?" He asked.

"What about me?" Kaden asked in confusion.

"Are you gay?" Farren clarified.

He chuckled at Farren's question. "Yeah."

"Oh." Was all Farren said in reply.

"So what are we going to do about this newly discovered mutual horniness we seem to share?" Kaden said with a smirk.

Farren ran a hand through his thick hair with a sigh. "I don't know Kaden, just be us I guess?"

"Just be us?" Kaden asked with confusion.

"Yeah. Just go on as normal and see what happens."

"By that I assume you mean that we'll still be tonguing?" Kaden asked, refusing to stop kissing Farren anytime soon.

"Trust you to ask the utmost important questions," Farren snorted with a roll of his eyes. "But yeah, makeouts included."

"But what are we Farren?" Kaden asked.

"We're just having fun Kaden." Farren replied.

"You know what I mean," Kaden said, rolling his eyes.

Farren met his eyes with a shrug. "I don't know what you want me to be Kaden, but I can't be anything more than just friends. With benefits of course." Farren said, adding in that last part as a suggestive afterthought.

"I agree." Said Kaden, ignoring the slight disappointment in his stomach. He had no right to be upset, he got what he wanted. Sort of.

"It's best we keep this between us." Farren said with a shrug.

"Obviously Farren." Kaden said with a laugh.

"If you want to come out or whatever feel free to, but keep our.. whatever we are, between us."

Kaden nodded. "I know Farren, I wasn't born yesterday."

"Could have fooled me." Farren replied with a smirk.

"Bitch." Kaden said with a roll of his eyes, though he had a smirk of his own gracing his face.

"Bite me."said Farren.

"Just tell me where." Kaden replied with a wink.

Farren blushed and hit Kaden lightly. "Are you ever going to stop being such a pervert?"

"Don't count on in Milton." Kaden said with a laugh.

And in that moment Kaden felt truly happy for the first time in a long time.

He had gotten what he had wanted more than anything.

He had gotten Farren Milton.

Sort of.
