Playful Heart [15] Sissy That Walk
Chapter Fifteen
Sissy That Walk
A/N: I will be on vacation for two weeks. I wanted to finish this book before then, but that hasn't worked out, so I give you three chapters. But just prepare yourself for the rest of the book, cause....its gonna get emotional.
No one look at me. Please God, no one look at me. I chanted in my head as I walked hand in hand towards the mansion with Noel. As soon as we had started up the driveway in the limo, I felt like everything was shutting down on me.
What if Victor recognized me? What if he dodged the bullets and we failed? I started to second guess myself and halted, turning around and making it my goal to get back to the limo, but Noel grabbed my arm and spun me around.
“You need to calm down. You only draw attention, unwanted attention. You need to go in there looking mysterious. Make them wonder who you are and make them want to find out.” He told me in a calming voice. Taking a few deep breathes, I linked my arm with his and we started towards the door again.
“Invitation please.” A man greeted us with the order as we reached the door. I opened up my clutch, and handed him the gold envelop. He checked the contents before tucking it into his clipboard. “Proceed.” He said and we tipped our heads to him in thanks and continued on into the mansion. The party was in full swing and as we entered, the noise quieted till the only sound was the jazz music playing and the quiet murmurs of the guests.
I cursed under my breath and Noel gave my arm a pat. Confidence. I heard him say in my head and I inhaled sharply before walking with him to the bar. I made sure to hold my head up and sway my padded hips. We made it to the bar and the chatter started to pick up as we ordered our drinks. I casually leaned back against the counter and scanned the crowd for the host.
“See him?” I asked Noel when I failed to find him.
“Yep, and he’s looking right at you.” He answered, and I looked at him to see him smirking. He nodded his head and I followed it, my eyes landing on the devil himself. I couldn’t lie and say Victor wasn’t attractive, because he was. But what he did and how he was made him hideous. I don’t care if you were sex on legs, if you abused our own wife, or family for that matter, you were ugly in my book.
But I had to seduce him, so that meant I had to look past the ugly and get my sexy on. I met his gaze and gave him a seductive smirk, grabbing my drink and sipping it. I looked over at Noel and he was watching me with amusement. “You must seduce people for a living.” He chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
“It’s all a part of the job.” I said simply and he snorted. I looked back over at Victor and saw him talking to someone, but then he looked up and winked when he saw me looking. I felt my cheeks flush ith heat, but my stomach was churning in disgust. Not only did he beat his wife, he was also going to cheat on her.
With me.
I quickly turned around at the thought and felt like throwing up. This was a bad idea. I wasn’t ready for this.
You need to stop thinking like a human, and think like a wolf. We are the masters of trickery. You are doing nothing wrong by giving this man what he deserves. Now stop acting like a wuss and act like an Alpha should. I was surprised that my wolf had actually spoken to me. I hadn’t heard from him since I mated with Lysander. But he was right. I needed to stop acting like this was going to fail, because if I kept thinking like that, it would. I needed to think like a wolf. Like an Alpha.
“So what did you and Lysander talk about while I was being tortured?” I asked, trying to change the subject from my almost mental breakdown. I glanced at Noel from the corner of my eye and saw him smirk.
“I just asked him what his intentions were. I want nothing but the best for you, and I refused to let him come back to the pack with us if he had alterative motives.”
“And he responded with?” I pushed on and this caused Noel to smile down at me.
“He said his only motive was to love you and stay by your side till your dying breathes. He said he would never do anything to harm you or put you in harms way and that he would lay down his life if it meant protecting you.” My cheeks started to fill with color at my Uncles repetition of Lysander’s words. “The boy is perfect for you. Treat each other well.” I nodded and went back to sipping my drink.
“He’s coming over here.” Noel suddenly said and I turned around to see that he was in fact, walking over to us. I opened my mouth to speak when Noels phone went off and he pulled it out of his pocket. “It’s Erin.” He sighed and looked at me and I felt my heart panic.
“No no no. You can’t leave me just yet!” I hissed quietly and he looked at me apologetically.
“Look, I’m sorry but I can’t ignore her and you know that. Just, focus on the goal. Get him into the room and then leave when Hazel and Nate attack. I’ll be waiting around the stairs for you.” I didn’t get to say another word as he dashed off, answering his phone.
“Why hello there.” I felt the hairs on my body rise as the deep voice entered my ears.
Shit shit shit shit.I “Hello there.” I answered, trying to make my voice sound mysterious and seductive. He gazed at me, lust filling his ink-black eyes and I suddenly felt fear inching up my back. This dude was just plain creepy.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before. So, how did you get into my party?” He asked, his eyebrows lifting in question as he took a sip of his drink. I decided that a smirk would make me look like a bitch, so I gave him a small sweet smile.
“My friend was originally supposed to come, but he declined and offered me and my friend the tickets instead.” I answered simply, remembering the story I was told to stick with.
“I took these tickets from one of his business partners, Mikhail Ivanov.” Essie had told us.
“More like steal. What’d you do, kill him or ask him politely for them?” Nate asked and Essie answered him with a blank stare.
“He tripped and fell into my knife.” I chuckled at the memory, then remembered I was still with Victor and looked at his amused expression.
“And what friend might that be?” He asked and I quickly answered. “Mikhail Ivanov.” He pursed his lips for a second then nodded his head.
“Ah yes. Mikhail. I called him a few days ago, and I got his voicemail saying he was on vacation. It’s strange because he never takes vacations this time of year.” His eyebrows knitted together in thought and then someone called out his name. He turned to look for the source and then chuckled.
“I have to leave, but I hope you stick around long enough so we can chat longer…”
“Nichole.”
“I like that name. Exotic.” He grabbed my hand and kissed it before walking away to converse with people. I cringed at the feeling of his lips and wiped my hand on my dress. Exotic? My name? Huh, this guy was so full of shit, the toilet is jealous.
I waited a couple of minutes for Noel to show up, but when he didn’t I decided to go use the bathroom. Well that was my excuse, because I was really going to look for the diamond doorknob. I looked around for any sign of Victors henchmen. When the coast was clear, I hurried up the stairs and started looking for the door. I sighed in relief when I found it and decided to open it and see if Nate and Hazel were in position.
I slowly opened the door and walked in, then jumped when I heard a voice from behind me. “Finally, I get you alone.” Victor sighed and I heard the door close. I turned around and smiled at him. “Why don’t I get us a drink?” He walked off and I quickly ran to the window, throwing it open. I felt relief wash over me again when I saw Nate give me thumbs up from a tree branch.
“Do you enjoy the night?” Victor asked as he returned with our drinks. I turned around and smiled at him, taking the drink from his hand.
“I do. It’s very calming.” I answered truthfully. I loved sitting out in the woods or on the roof at night back home. Sometimes I would fall asleep, and my dad would find me and carry me inside to my bed. I felt my stomach twist as I realized how much I missed my dad. As soon as this was done, we were going home and I was going to apologize and make things right with my dad.
“Are you alright? Your face seems to have fallen.” He reached his hand forward and touched my cheek. I wanted to flinch away, but fought the urge and let him caress it.
“I was just thinking of a fond memory.” I whispered and he smiled, closing the distance between us.
“Well why don’t I make you happy?” He asked, his tone and actions suggestive and I suddenly felt pissed. I backed away from him and he frowned.
“Aren’t you married?” I asked and his expression seemed to grow livid. “I am. But my wife and I have separated at the moment. I honestly don’t think she’ll ever be coming back.” I caught the hidden meaning in his words and my heart fell in my stomach.
“I think I should go.” I said and started towards the door when Victor grabbed my arm roughly, causing me to drop the drink in my hand. His hand twirled in my hair and he gave it a hard pull, and I gasped as I felt the extensions rip from my scalp. He pulled away and looked at the hair in his hands, then back at me with wide, angry eyes.
“Who are you?” He asked and I felt all my anger from earlier come flooding back.
“I’m your fairy godmother. Bibbidi bobbidi boo BITCH.” I snapped and drew my leg up so my knee slammed into his crotch. I quickly walked to the door as I heard feet land on the floor and right when I closed the door, I heard the sound of the silencer go off on the gun and a heavy thump followed. I hurried down the stairs and saw Noel waiting just as he said. As soon as he saw me and my messed up hair, he quickly met me at the bottom and hid my head from everyone as we walked out. Once we were far enough from the mansion, Noel uncovered me and I sighed.
“What happened?” He asked, turning towards a path in the woods. I stopped to take the heels off before catching up to him.
“Fucker tried to go in, and when he yanked my hair he pulled it out. Nate and Hazel came in just in time or else I would’ve ripped hi a new one.” I snapped and I heard Noel chuckle. We approached the white van parked on a dirt road and the side door opened to reveal a worry faced Lysander. He raced up to meet us and wrapped his arms around me.
“Thank God. When Hazel and Nate got here without you, I thought—“ He stopped and pulled away so I could see his face. I smiled and patted his cheek. “I’m fine. Just a sore scalp is all.” I told him and started towards the van.
“Did he rip out your hair?” Hazel gasped as I took a seat and Lysander closed the door.
“Yeah, he did. And I’m pretty sure he pulled some of my real hair too.” Noel actually laughed out loud at that one and I reached over and smacked his arm. He choked on his laugh and then cleared his throat. “Sorry. Not funny.” I rolled my eyes at him and couldn’t help but crack a smile. Essie started the engine and we drove for a while before pulling out onto the main road.
“Headed to the airport right?” She asked, moving to set the coordinates in the GPS. I opened my mouth to agree, but Lysander beat me to it.
“Actually, I wanted to know if we could stop by my friends’ places. I want to let them know where I’m going because I promised them I would be returning from Greece around this time.” Everyone was silent as they mulled over my mates request, but then their attention was directed to me.
“You’re the Alpha. You call the shots.” Noel explained and I sighed, looking out onto the road. I did want to meet Lysander’s friends, but I was dressed lie a chick, and that would be awkward.
“Yeah, let’s do that. Hand Lysander the GPS so he can put in the directions.” I told Essie and she unhooked the device and handed it back to Lysander. We pulled over to the side of the road as he put in the addresses, before handing it back to Essie and she started back down the road.
Everyone was quiet for the first couple of minutes until Nate decided to break the awkward silence and reach towards the front and turn on the radio. As the music filled the van, I took the chance to speak to Lysander. “I can’t go with you to meet them.” I whispered to him and he looked at me confused.
“Why not? You are my husband; I want them to meet you.” It was my turn to be confused now. Did he just say I think he said?
“Husband? Where the hell did that come from?” Don’t get me wrong, the thought of being married to Lysander made me all giddy inside. But it somehow felt rushed to hear him call me that.
“Your Uncle told me we were technically married since we mated. And that we just had to make it official back at your pack house.” I darted my eyes to Noel and he gave me a sheepish smile. The little shit. “Are you not happy with me calling you that? “Lysander asked and I didn’t miss the sadness in his voice.
“No I am! You just caught me off guard is all.” I told him and he smiled at me. Well, I guess I should meet his friends now. “Hazel, where’s my stuff?” I asked and she pointed her thumb towards the back. I got up and walked over toward them, flipping the little light on in the process. I grabbed my suitcase a started pulling out some clothes. It was pretty cold so I took out a pair of dark skinny jeans and a light blue button up. I moved onto my other suitcase that had my coats and shoes, and grabbed a dark brown pea coat, a navy blue knit scarf and a pair of brown ankle boots. I closed the suitcases and turned around.
“Everyone cover your eyes.” I snapped. Noel, Nate and Hazel all rolled their eyes before turning their heads to the front. I started to unzip the dress when I saw Lysander stand up in front of me. I smiled at him and he smiled back. I quickly took everything off and shoved in an empty back, before tugging on my new clothes. I laced up the boots and Lysander moved to sit back down.
“Do you think we could stop at a gas station? I need to wash my face off.” I asked Essie and she nodded and gave thumbs up. I sat back down beside Lysander and Hazel rolled her eyes.
“Why didn’t you just change in the gas station then?” She huffed and I smirked. As we turned into the nearest gas station, I happened to glance down and see Nate and Hazel holding hands. My eyes quickly snapped back up to Nate’s face to find him staring towards the front. We stopped in front of a gas pump and Essie opened the door.
“Make it quick.” She said and I nodded, climbing up and out of the van. I paused and turned around, looking at my best friend. “Nate, come with me.” I said and it came out as more of an order than a request. He made no complaints though, and climbed out after me. I hurried into the little store connecting to the gas station and covered my face as I walked into the bathroom. Nate made a notion to stand outside, but I jerked his arm and pulled him into the bathroom.
“What’s the delio?” Nate asked as I turned on the water and started splashing it on my face. I helped up a finger as I washed off the makeup, and thousands of soap pumps and paper towels, I now had a bare face with no sign of makeup.
“Are you and Hazel a thing?” I finally asked, throwing away the fake lashes in the waste bin. He was quiet for a minute and I leaned up against the wall, crossing my arms over my chest.
“What would you do if I told you that we were mates?” He asked and my jaw dropped.
“I would be freaking happy for you.” I gushed and he smiled, holding his hands out.
“Then guess what? I found my mate. And she’s a badass who loves to kick butt.” I laughed and pulled my best friend into a hug. Words could not describe how happy I was for him. He had been through so much shit, and now that he found his mate, I was ecstatic.
“Congrats man. Have you guys…mated?” I asked. I hadn’t seen either of their arms lately to see a mark, so I had no clue.
“Nah. We wanted to wait till we got back in the good ol’ USA. That way I can propose to her and we can have a wedding.” I couldn’t stop smiling. This is great, just brilliant. Even as we walked back to the van, and started towards Lysander’s friend’s house, the smile still remained.
“So whose house are we going to first?” Noel said, probably getting tired of the creepy smile on my face.
“Sergio and Stefano’s.” Lysander explained and I resisted the urge to comment on how cliché those names were. I couldn’t complain though, because I probably have met thousands of Daniels, Stephens and Bobs. Typical American names.
The GPS announced our destination would be on the right and soon enough, we were pulling onto the side of a house, Lysander already standing to get out of the car. I quickly joined him and he grabbed my hand as we walked to the house.
“You ready?” He asked and I nodded. I was about as ready as I’d ever be. We walked up the front steps and he knocked on the door twice before a voice started yelling in Italian. The door flew open and the man gasped.
“Lysander?” He asked and then opened the door. They chatted in their native language while I stood awkwardly to the side. I really needed to take a class to learn Italian. Lysander finally pulled out of the conversation with his friend and turned to smile at me.
“Sergio, this is my husband, Nikolai.” Sergio looked surprised at the either the fact he said husband, or that I was a guy. My money was on both.
“Oh my. Come in, come in. Stefano is in the kitchen.” We walked in and he started off towards the back of the house, yelling in Italian again. I had no clue what they were saying, but the tone of thir voices made me chuckle to myself.
“What’s so funny?” Lysander asked and I shook my head, still chuckling to myself. He grabbed my around the waist, pulling me into a hug and I wrapped my hands around his waist. “How did I get so lucky?” He whispered to me and I leaned in to peck his lips.
“I don’t know. Maybe you won me over when you kissed me in the bathroom of that club.” I answered and he captured my lips in a deep kiss. I started to want more than a kiss, and almost went for it until I heard someone clear their throat. We pulled apart and saw the two men standing by the archway. The man I assumed was Stefano gasped and said something before his brother smacked his arm.
“We can’t stay for long, I have to go to Carlo’s house and tell him the news.” Lysander said and Stefano frowned.
“Carlo is on vacation with his parents, so you’re stuck with just telling us the news. Out with it.” He demanded, smacking Lysander’s arm. I could see Lysander was upset his other friend was gone, but he still managed to smile as he told his friends the news.
“I’m moving to America, to live with Nikolai. I wanted to let you all know before leaving, so that way you can visit whenever you get the chance.” I watched his friend’s faces turn through several different emotions, before it settled on one.
“We’re happy for you buddy.” Sergio said and patted my mates arm. “If anyone deserves to be happy, it’s you.” He said and Stefano made a noise of agreement.
“Well, we don’t want to keep you any longer, so be safe and call us when you get there.” Sergio warned and then he looked at me. My eyes widened in fear he was going to say something, but he quickly looked at Lysander and said something in Italian, which in turn made Lysander smirk. When they walked away, I turned and faced him.
“What did he say?” I whispered and yelped when I felt Lysander’s arm wrap around me.
“He said we could use the guest room for a quickie. You know…if you wanna.” That was all I needed to hear as I took his hand and gave him a seductive smile.
“Lead the way.”
