"WELCOME BACK MISS NOIR", PIXIE, THE ELF, GREETED AS VICTORIA HAD APPEARED BACK IN THE NOIR MANSION.

"where is mother?", victoria immediately asked, making pixie awkwardly look down.

"madam is still in her bedroom, miss", pixie solemnly answered.

victoria simply nodded. she didn't know what she had expected while she was gone for school in france.

"pixie, could you bring me the book from my library please? after that, you and the other elves will be dismissed for the day", victoria softly commanded.

"yes miss. pixie will be right back!", the little elf chirped as she hurriedly ran off since she knew exactly which book victoria desired.

victoria glanced around the vacant mansion. perhaps if the weasleys resided here, they would be more happy than her.

"mother?", the girl softly asked, while she knocked on her mother's bedroom door.

no response was heard as expected.

victoria simply entered the woman's chambers, quietly sighing as she watched her mother sit by the windowsill in a wooden rocking chair, with a thin black blanket covering the lower half of her body.

the girl kneeled in front of her mother, watching as nora noir's gaze was stuck looking out the window, through the many greens and the dark grey sky.

nora noir was once a proud woman, which perhaps explains where victoria had received her cunningness from.

nora's beauty would possibly even rival the greek goddess athena's, as she had the same silvery pearl white hair like victoria and pure, pristine, baby blue eyes that were delicate like glass marbles.

though the woman was in her late 30s, she had already gained a few wrinkles and dark eye bags. however, that had not affected the woman's true beauty any more or any less.

"mother, I'm home", victoria murmured, knowing full well that the woman could hear her.

"why?", the woman simply asked, not even sparing her daughter a glance.

"I don't know", victoria truthfully answered.

why had she come back to her mother that didn't even love her? why?

"still waiting for him?", victoria asked.

"yes", nora said, barely above a whisper.

victoria nearly scoffed. she didn't know why her mother waited for a man that had left her so broken and devastated that she barely ate nor sleep, except  think about him.

nora finally hovered her gaze over at victoria, sending her a cold stare.

"what do you know? you'll never be able to understand. you'll never be able to understand the beauty of love, the felicity one possesses when they're with another, nor the feeling of being able to cherish someone for the rest of eternity", nora scowled.

victoria stood up, walking away from her mother as she was about to leave her room.

"and because of you, I never will", victoria spat as she slammed the door closed behind her.

victoria heavily huffed as she marched towards her room, where she knew pixie had most likely already placed her book that she had requested.

since young, the girl had learned about her mother and father's divorce.

at the time, she didn't understand why her pureblood wizard of a father had left the two of them defenseless, but she later learned that it was the selfishness of her mother that had drove him away.

since the day that he had left, victoria never saw him ever again, not like she even remembered what he looked like to begin with.

she also promised herself that she wouldn't let any boy or man ever dominate her feelings like her pathetic mother had.

hence why she was always the one leaving the relationship first.

though the girl was only fourteen, she's had her fair share of short relationships just for the fun of it, and if the boy had something to offer that would benefit her.

once victoria arrived back to her bedroom, she sighed as she snatched the book off her nightstand and sat on the couch by the fireplace.

no matter the amount of times that she had read through the entirety of the legend of the deathly hollows, she'll never find anymore new information that could aide her in finding these items.

some days, she had really begun to think that it was just a mere tale. after all, no one that victoria knew of knew about the location of the three items other than the peverell brothers.

suddenly victoria came to a realization. had she not been so focused on finding all three at once, she would've realized that to find the elder wand, she should've questioned ollivander, the most famous wand maker.

not to mention, but if living people didn't know of where the invisibility cloak and the resurrection stone was, perhaps the dead would.

victoria hastily stood up, dropping the book onto the floor as she didn't even bother picking it up.

"heading out miss?", pixie asked.

pixie was perhaps the most loyal elf to victoria, and victoria noir alone. the others didn't necessarily disobey the girl, but hesitated, as they weren't sure about the young girl's capabilities as the new head of the house.

"I'll be back soon. go relax pixie, mother will be fine on her own", victoria replied as she grabbed a dark coat and draped it over her shoulder.

"then pixie wishes for the safety of miss noir", pixie bowed, making victoria crack a small smile.

"victoria's just fine pixie. and I'll see you later", victoria said as she left the mansion hastily.

pixie smiled as she waddled back to her and the other eleves' shared room. it wasn't the first time that victoria had told her to just call her by her name, but every time the girl had said it, it made pixie feel just a little bit more special than the other elves.

"ah, ms. noir! pleasant seeing you here", ollivander greeted as he exactly remembered the 10 and 1/2 aspen wand that he had sold victoria at the age of 11.

though victoria could've easily bought a wand at france, she had wanted one from the famous garrick ollivander himself.

"pleasure seeing you too mr. ollivander", victoria smiled.

"is there anything I can help you with? perhaps a new wand? or a little fix on your current one?", ollivander asked, making victoria pleased.

"actually...I was wondering...if you had any wands that were made of elder", victoria said, making ollivander stop fumbling with his cabinets momentarily.

"I suppose I might have some that are made of alder woo—"

"no no. you heard me wrong, mr. ollivander. I was asking about elder wood", victoria interrupted, making the man awkwardly turn around and look the girl in the eye.

"very...they're very rare", ollivander answered.

"but what about the elder wand?", victoria inquired, making the old man slightly chuckle.

"ms. noir, you should know better than I that the three deathly hollows are just a myth", ollivander smiled.

"I personally don't think so mr. ollivander. plus, would it hurt to just let a little girl follow her dreams of searching for such objects?", victoria sweetly asked.

ollivander pondered it for a moment. a little girl shouldn't even be thinking of such things, but perhaps it was just genuine curiosity.

"honestly...I'm not entirely sure about the wand itself. last I heard, gregorovitch had it", ollivander recalled.

"gregorovitch?"

"indeed. he's another wand maker, but he closed down quite a while ago", ollivander said.

"do you know where he is?", victoria eagerly asked.

ollivander just shook his head.

"well thank you for your service mr. ollivander. I'll see you soon", victoria said as she left a bag of sickles on a shelf near her.

ollivander watched as the girl left, sighing as he slowly shook his head.

after all, it wasn't everyday that a fourteen year-old girl asked about the deathly hollows without the goal of actually obtaining all three.

he had hoped that the girl knew, power isn't everything.
