31: I Hate That I Loved You, Maybe Then I Wouldn't Be So Broken
When Y/n's eyes fluttered opened, she didn't know what to expect.
The first thing she focused on was the sudden sharp pain to her head which made her wince.
As her vision became clearer, she noticed that her surroundings were brighter than usual. That's when it occurred to her that she was in a hospital.
The bed ridden female stirred which caused a certain ginger on a chair beside her to perk up.
Parker immediately jumped up and embraced her dearest friend as if she was dying.
"Parker?" Y/n mumbled in confusion, slowly bring a hand up to pat Parker's back though she was utterly weak.
"Oh, Y/n!" Parker cried, "I'm so glad you're okay." Despite the bright smile the ginger had on her face, Y/n knew that there was immense pain behind that 'mask' of hers.
Her eyes were red, swollen and half lidded as to say she was tired, her dark orange hair that was always styled neatly was now loose and messy.
Every moment at the park came rushing back to her memory, she remember every occurrence up to the moment she was knocked unconscious.
"Matt." Was what she uttered in her fragile state. Y/n sat up, groaning in pain when Parker held her shoulders as a gesture to stop, "Where's Matt?"
"Y/n." Parker said with sympathy, a frown now taking over her features, "Matt and Mello are gone."
"W-what?" Y/n sat in utter confusion and disbelief, praying that this was a nightmare she would soon wake up from.
"I got a call saying you were unconscious in the back of Matt's Camero. Surely enough when I got there, you were." Parker explained as her now dull green eyes looked to the tiles of the room, "Mello said that William had taken Matt and he was going to get him back."
Parker's lips quivered and tears began to brim her eyes as she was hesitant to continue, "Y/n, that was 3 days ago. They never take so long in a situation like this. Never."
Soon enough the e/c eyes of Y/n started to well up also as the thoughts of Matt no longer being alive crossed her mind. The thoughts of no longer bickering with Mello.
What would Mia think?
She had been so attached to the pair of males, the little girl would be heartbroken if anything were to happen to them.
"They're going to be okay." Y/n said after a long silence, trying to convince Parker as well as herself of their safety, "It's Matt and Mello, they'll be okay."
"Oh, Y/n." Parker started sobbing in which Y/n gently took her friend in her arms, rubbing her back smoothly in a comforting way.
Unknowingly to the ginger, Y/n cried silently; tears streaming down her face as she withheld a stoic face in order to keep it together for Parker.
When the ginger finally calmed, she flopped back on the chair and fell asleep; probably exhausted from crying for days. A knock was heard at the doorframe of Y/n's room.
The eyes of the h/c haired girl widened at the sight of her mother.
"Y/n, darling." Evelyn smiled at the sight of her daughter, she approached for a hug which Y/n returned, "I'm so happy you're alright."
"Hi, mom." Y/n slightly smiled, "What are you doing here?"
"Parker called and told me all that happened and I had to come and take care of you." Evelyn explained as she took a seat on the edge of Y/n's bed, "I'm so sorry about everything darling." Y/n knew she was talking about Matt.
"It's alright." The girl assured, "Did you know that dad was behind it all?"
"I had no idea, Y/n. I swear, I was so angry that James could ever jeopardize your safety like that." her mother confessed, shaking her head in shame and disbelief of her husband's actions.
Y/n held a grudge over her deceased father, wishing he was alive so should give him a piece of her mind; then he could drop dead for all she cared.
After a moment of silence, Evelyn cleared her throat as she fiddled with her fingers, "Since James died, the company rightfully belongs to me and because of this I was able to be aware of the illegal trades he was doing."
Y/n brows quirked as she listened to her mother, wondering why she was telling her this information, "I have cut all illegal ties and smoothen it out with the people he had previously been involved with." The h/c haired woman paused as she looked to Y/n and smiled, "Because I want it to be a clean company when I sign it over to you."
Y/n eyes practically bulged opened at this, "You-you want to give it to me?"
Evelyn excitedly nodded, "You are capable Y/n. You can make it better than your father ever had it. I believe in you." Her mother brushed her daughter's hair back then her hand gently rested at the side of her face, "There is no pressure also. If you don't want it, I completely understand."
Y/n noticed how her mother had drastically changed to the point she could actually cry. It felt so good to have a mother figure that she deserved. She was glad her mother was now acting like one and was willing to forgive her for her past mistakes as she was now trying; it was evident.
"Thank you, mom" Y/n said, in a whisper almost.
Evelyn pressed a kiss against her forehead, "You don't need to thank me. You deserve it." Her mother then stood to her feet, "I must be going, darling. I will visit a bit later."
Y/n waved her mother off, now being alone with her thoughts. Y/n couldn't help it as her mind drifted to the boys she cared for, worrying about their safety.
If Mello went to save Matt from William, surely Mello had a plan. He wouldn't just storm in not knowing his next move.
Right?
Both females stayed at Y/n's apartment because neither could stand to be alone in a timing as such
Parker and Mello had lived together to it was absolutely impossible for her to back there without him, with all the memories they shared at their place.
As the days went by, Y/n and Parker had lost hope, the two girls' world simultaneously crashing down as they slowly accepted fate.
Pain, anxiety, loss.
That's all they felt but what was worse was each day that went by was a day those two weren't home, they weren't safe and a possibility of the two being dead somewhere became more likely.
And with all those possibility swarming in their head with no closure was what made it worse, Y/n tried to not think if the pain they could possibly be in.
A small part if them had burning hope, it was small but it was still there; a reason to keep going because they were going to be absolutely fine
But boy, they couldn't have been more wrong
After almost two weeks of Matt and Mello's disappearance, a knock was heard from the h/c haired girl's front door.
Looking through the peephole, she looked to the person to ensure it wasn't an sketchy person of the sort.
Parker had just finished brushing her teeth and headed out the bathroom, into the living room to see her friend looking through the peephole of her front door.
Y/n turned to Parker who furrowed her brows as a gesture to ask who was at the door.
"It's an officer." Y/n said confusingly. She opened the door as Parker joined her by her side.
Y/n leaned against the frame of the door she she plastered a smile of her face.
"Hi officer, what can I do you for?"
"Y/n L/n? Right?" He asked as she flipped through some sort of clipboard in his hands
"Yes, that's me"
The officers eyes then looked to the ginger beside her, "And who might you be, miss?" He asked politely
"Parker Harwell." She merely started. The ginger lacked sleep and wasn't in the mood and quite frankly Y/n didn't blame her.
"Parker Harwell." He mumbled as he flipped through the clipboard once more, "I was just at your apartment miss, you weren't home and now I know why." He gave a small smile to the both females.
"Which is good because I need to speak with you two ladies." He continued.
Y/n and Parker exchange knowing glances, why else would an officer want to speak with the two at the same time?
"Its about Matt and Mello, isn't it?" Parker said, suddenly becoming a bit more interested in the conversation
But however, as the officer frowned, she wished she hadn't.
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news but as for Mail and Mihael." The officer paused, leaving the two girls at the edge as he gathered the courage to finish his sentence, "They both have died."
"No." Y/n mumbled as she shook her head in disbelief, "This cant be!"
Parker maintained a stoic manner, however it didn't take a genius to figure out that a part of her had died along with Mello.
The officer's frown only deepened as he continued, "They were beaten beyond recognition, partly burnt but dental records without a doubt shows the bodies we found belonged to Mail Jeevas and Mihael Kheel."
"Thank you for telling us." Parker stated, not giving the officer a chance to speak once more as she closed to door.
When Y/n fell to the floor, crying her heart out; along with the news, Parker cried in seeing her best friend this way, in so much pain that one can hear it in her wailing.
Parker joined the girl on the ground and hugged her. All they needed was each other.
Matt and Mello were gone forever and both Parker and Y/n couldn't accept that fact.
But at one point they would have to.
