3: Quite Frankly, Your Existence Bothers Me
"You."
"Yes, me." the brunet smirked, "I know it's been about 10 minutes but I missed you sweetheart."
Parker furrowed her eyebrows at Y/n and the man on the seat, "You know him?"
The h/c haired girl scoffed and crossed her arms over her stomach, "Don't insult me."
"Playing hard get?" He bit his lower lip whilst nodding his head slowly, "I like that."
"I'm not playing sweetheart." Y/n couldn't help but let out a smile
"This the girl you've been babbling about, Matt?" A blonde guy asked the brunet. He nodded in response not taking his eyes off the girl.
Y/n didn't realize because she was occupied looking at the blonde that was now opening a bar of chocolate.
He wore leather everything.
Leather vest, leather pants, leather boots and a leather jacket that was draped over the back of the seat near him.
His blonde hair was bright and long, the ends brushing against the top of his shoulder. He also had bangs that would shag in front of his blue eyes when he'd tilt his head down.
There were two other guys and a female who were with them but they were too involved in each other and probably drunk off their heads to take on the interaction that was going on.
"Y/n, meet Mihael Keehl but just call him Mello." Parker introduced then whispered to her, "They prefer the nicknames."
"And you've already met Mail Jeevas AKA Matt." she added, "Guys, meet Y/n L/n."
"You're the chick Parker talks about so much." Mello deadpanned as he took a bite of his chocolate.
Y/n swings a hand around her friend and grins at her, "Parker, I'm flattered."
"Oh shut up." she grumbled in response causing Y/n to giggle.
"Well Mello. Nice to finally meet you," Y/n gave a warm smile at the man, "I'm not going to bother to tell you the whole 'I'll kill you if you hurt her' speech because I'm sure if you did Parker would kill you herself but I'd, without a doubt, help."
She girl in mention nodded in agreement to the statement.
Y/n had no idea if her eyes were deceiving her or not but she could have sworn she saw the blonde smile.
"I like this one." Mello said to Parker.
"Not more than me." Parker huffed as she strode over to Mello to sit on his lap.
"Of course not baby." Mello kissed his girlfriend causing Y/n to look away as it was getting heated.
"Get a fucking room." Matt groaned.
"I'm curious though." Y/n said, grabbing the attention of the three, "Mello, how do you know this goggle wearing idiot?"
"Childhood friends you could say." The blonde shrugged, "He's my right hand man in the mafia and the clubs we own."
Y/n eyes widen a bit, "Pardon?" Then she looked over the the brunet next to him, "So you weren't kidding when you said that."
Matt chuckled and shook his head.
"Don't tell me you own this club."
"Yes we do, Y/n sweetheart~" Matt cooed.
Walking over to Parker who sat snug on her boyfriend's lap, she tapped her head in annoyance.
"Fuck me, Y/n! You hit hard, you know?" Parker complained while rubbing her head.
"Why didn't you tell me!" She whisper shouted.
The ginger leaned forward, closer to Y/n's ear to prevent Mello from hearing, "You never asked."
"I never asked?!" Y/n said louder than she intended, causing the two males to stare at her so she went back to her whisper shouting, "I never asked? Why are you involved in this type of shit anyway? It's dangerous."
There was no way for anyone to hear even though they were quite close because of their hushed voices and the music.
"Because." Parker trailed off
"Because...?" Y/n prompted impatiently.
"Because I love him."
They stared at each other and eventually Y/n's gaze soften, followed by a sigh. Y/n straightened her posture and shook her head, "Alright. Fine."
This causes the ginger to giggle, "See! I knew you'd understand!"
Mello cleared his throat, "Are we missing something here?"
"Nope." Y/n said, popping the 'p' "Well I'll leave you guys to have fun then."
With a wave, Y/n turned to walk away. A hand grabbed onto her wrist, causing her to stop.
She looked at the hand then her e/c eyes trailed up to the face.
"Can I help you?"
"Didn't I say I wanted you at my table?"
"And didn't I say I was working?"
Matt grinned as he let go of the girl's wrist, "Since you basically work for me, I say you're off duty."
The male walked to stand behind her, placing his warm hands on her shoulder and sliding them down to her arm.
Y/n's breath shuddered at the action which Matt took notice.
He started to gently guide her to the table, placing her right beside him. Parker smirked at the fact the girl didn't resist Matt at all
"Obedience looks good on you Y/n."
"Shut up," Y/n rolled her eyes, "What now?"
"Now." Matt laughed, "We drink m'lady."
As if on cue, a waitress arrived at the table. She knew her face but not the name as Y/n hardly has the time to remember their names.
Mello got nothing, Parker got a glass of Bourbon and Matt ordered a whiskey.
"3 shots of tequila." Y/n said before the waitress walked off to get their drinks.
"Y/n, you know I don't drink tequila." Parker whined
"I know." Y/n leaned back, propping her feet up on the table, "It's for me."
Matt chuckled from beside her.
"See Matt, if I hadn't dragged your ass away from your video games you wouldn't have met her. I should get a thank you."
Matt rolled his eyes, "Piss off."
"That's not what I said." Mello deadpanned
He whispered something to Mello in which he nodded in response. The brunet stood up and ran a hand through his hair before walking away.
Before he could go any further, Y/n held his sleeve in which he immediately stopped and turned to look at her.
Realizing what she had done she quickly let go.
She stood also to limit Mello and Parker from hearing.
"Where ya headed?"
"Don't worry sweetheart I'm not leaving." Matt smirked, "I'm gonna take a smoke break outside."
"Oh." Y/n pressed her lips in a thin line whilst nodding.
"Join me." Matt beckoned as he walked away. Y/n trailed behind and held onto the back of his striped shirt as to not lose him in the crowd.
Y/n would definitely tease him for the blush forming on his cheeks from an act as small as that if she had seen.
The male opened the right side of the double doors and placed a hand on the small of Y/n's back to gently usher her out.
Her eyes immediately found Killion checking IDs.
"Killy!"
"Damnit Y/n." Killion shook his head as he spotted the girl.
She approached the male and smiled
"Working hard I see." Killion joked as he pushed his hands inside his pockets.
"Screw you idiot, I'm off duty." Y/n huffed as she crossed her arms.
"Yeah?" He questioned, "Who ordered that?"
"I did."
The voice made the two look at the serious brown haired male.
Y/n furrowed her eyebrows at the serious and stern demeanor he had. It wasn't like him.
Killion straightened his posture immediately, "You're Mail Jeevas, no?"
Matt merely nodded.
"Y/n." Killion cleared his throat, flicking his gaze between the two before settling his look on her, "What...uh, What are you doing with em'?"
"We just came out for some air, Killy. No need to go all 'dad' mode on me." Y/n assured as she waved him off.
"Are you sure?"
Matt stepped forward a bit, "Is there a problem?"
"Nope." Killion shook his head, "Just don't want Y/n in danger is all."
"What the fuck are you implying? That I'd purposely put her in danger?"
Sensing the venom dripping from Matt's words, Y/n grabbed his arm.
"I'll see you Monday, Killy." Y/n smiled before walking away and pulling the male with her.
She walked to the side of the building which was an alleyway
Entering the alleyway, Y/n let go and Matt immediately shoved his hands in his pockets looking for something.
The silence was painful.
"Video games, huh?"
"Yeah. I would've brought my gameboy if Mello hadn't hidden it somewhere." Matt rolled his eyes at the memory.
"My sister likes video games too." Y/n smiled at the thought of Mia, "Can't get her to put it down sometimes."
This caused Matt to chuckle as he pulled out his pack of cigarette, now looking for the lighter.
"How old is she?"
"Five."
"Her name?"
"Mia. She's really outgoing for her age. She'd walk up to a stranger and pick up a conversation just like that. She's really sweet."
Matt pulled out his silver lighter.
He nodded as he took out a cigarette from the pack, "She sounds lovely, maybe I'll get to meet her."
"We'll see." Y/n laughed softly, "What about you? Any siblings?"
Matt leaned back on the cold brick wall, "Nope. Mello's the only family I have."
With the stick now tucked between his lips, he flicked the scroll on the lighter a couple times, placing a hand behind the flame to prevent the wind from blowing it out.
When it was lit, smoke immediately engulfed him.
Y/n tilted her head as she stood beside him, "You never knew your parents?"
He shook his head, looking straight ahead, "I was an orphan." Matt took a long drag, "The orphanage is where I met Mello."
"I'm sorry. Must have been terrible." Y/n looked down at her feet.
Matt laughed softly, "Crazy as it sounds. I wouldn't to have it any other way. What about you?"
"Well I lived in America with my parents but after a year or two after Mia was born they shipped us off her to stay with my aunt. A year ago she kicked me out because I refused to go back to America."
While she spoke, she failed to catch Matt's eyes on her.
"She sounds like a witch."
This caused Y/n to laugh, "Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so."
Y/n catches the smile on his lips, "Are you okay though? Like living situation and financially since you're on your own,"
Matt tapped the ash off this cig and took another long drag, the smoke exiting his nose quickly.
"Yeah actually. I got myself an apartment not far from here and this job pays well, believe it or not."
Matt chuckled, "I'm glad. I ran away too, ya know?"
Y/n eyebrows shot up, "Do tell."
"I ran away from the orphanage with Mello at age 14. We joined the mafia and worked our way to the top." Matt threw the finished cig to the ground then laughed, "It wasn't easy I'll tell you that."
Y/n giggled, "I'm sorry but I just can't see you being in the Mafia. You look like you work at Best Buy or Walmart."
The male genuinely laughed, "I'm heartbroken now." he shook his head, "I do more of the technical work."
"That's cool, so you're good with computers and stuff?"
"Very," He answered, "I'm surprised you're not saying how geeky or stupid it sounds."
Y/n laughed, "Na, I find that stuff attractive actually." she said without thinking much of it.
Matt smirked, towering over her, "You like that, huh?~" He purred.
Her eyes widened and she shoved the male, he grunted followed by a chuckle.
Matt took another cigarette from the pack and placed it between his lips. He was about to light it when Y/n spoke up
"You mind if I have one?"
The man was taken back by the request, "Not at all sweetheart," he stretched his hand towards her for her to take anyway.
The female took one and placed it between her lips.
Matt flicked his lighter and held it up to the tip of her cigarette.
Once it was lit, Y/n held it between her pointer and middle finger and took a drag.
"Oh my god." Y/n moaned slightly as the toxic smoke filled her lungs and she rolled her head back at the familiar taste of nicotine.
"You weren't trying to quit smoking before, right?" Matt asked, voice filled with noticeable worry.
Y/n opened her eyes and looked at Matt who stared at her, his cigarette also between his pointer and middle finger as the smoke trailed off the lit tip.
She immediately waved him off, "Oh, no. I don't smoke at work so I just couldn't help myself any longer."
Matt breath a sigh of relief as he relaxed, "Something told me that you were a smoker."
"Was it the knife strapped to my thigh?" She joked.
Matt let out a breathy laugh as he shook his head, "I dunno, it's just something about you."
With a few more pulls, Y/n blew out the last bit of the smoke.
"You finished?"
She just nodded at the male. He took it from her and took a drag that made the end reach the butt of the cig.
Matt threw it to the ground and twisted his heel on it.
Y/n eyes widened at the action as she nervously cleared her throat.
Matt smiled at her, "Let's go back inside, yeah?"
