Ichihoshi Hikaru [ Coffee Isn't That Great, But You Sure Are ]

[ notes/ req for hikaru ! not my favourite character but i'd still protect him whenever. why are all of these about coffee i dont even like coffee. this title is ridiculous ]

His eyes watched the every move of the [h/c] female, as she whisked through the array of tables and the other employees. Every step of hers, every movement, was nothing but graceful. She smiled at every customer, and greeted them all with that soft voice of hers. Her warmth practically emanated for miles, just the thought of her was enough to make the bluenette's heart flutter.

His elbows propped up on the table, he rested his chin in his palms and heaved a dreamy sigh as she served another customer over the counter. This cafe was famous for it's coffee, it's blend is told to be smooth enough to bring a smile to even the sourest of people. Though, Hikaru surely was not a coffee person. In fact, he had never tasted the drink in his life.

Coffee wasn't the reason he always came by this cafe though, he came to watch the pretty waitress. Sometimes if he was lucky, he'd get to place his order with her personally - but he always ended up a blushing and nervous wreck. The female didn't mind, she still kept that welcoming smile of hers, and happily urged him to come again.

So he did. He came back to the cafe every time, just to see her again.

Finally working up the courage, Hikaru rose from his seat in the quiet corner of the cafe and headed over to the front counter. Her back was turned to him as she made someone's drink, then handed it to her co worker, then she returned to the counter. Her name was [Y/n], he had made sure to read her name tag the day he saw her.

"Hi, what can I get for you." She female chirped.

"U-uhm. . ." Hikaru suddenly forgot everything he planned to say. Frantically, he looked up at the menu over their heads.

"That's alright, take your time." The waitress reassured him.

"A small coffee, please." He said, impulsively. It's what everyone ordered when they came here, and while this wasn't the order he meant to place, Hikaru was curious about the drink. [Y/n] served it every day to nearly everyone, it had to be a special drink.

"How would you like it?" This question caught him off guard. . . How do people order coffee. . . ?

". . . Pardon?" Completely lost, the blue haired male just barely inch closer, his brows furrowed. No one told him he was supposed to take a test when ordering a drink. This was stressful.

"How many creams and sugars?" She continued before letting out a small giggle and shaking her head. "Is this your first time drinking coffee?"

A little ashamed of his incompetence, he sunk in his place and nodded.

"That's alright! I'll try and make it so you'll enjoy it, please take a seat in the mean time." With a bright beam, the female gestured him to the tables. "That'll be one-twenty-five yen please!"

Shuffling through the coins in his wallet, the bluenette placed the correct amount into the palm of her hand. His breath hitched as his fingers just barely brushed against hers. The female popped the coins into the cash register, printed the receipt and handed it to Hikaru while thanking him. He gave her a small smile before heading back to his earlier seat.

To keep himself occupied in the meantime, he'd read a novel. Of course, he wouldn't want the waitress to find him staring at her for half an hour straight. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the girl approaching him with his drink from earlier.

'Here she comes. . .' He pretended not to notice, and continued reading the same line in his book over and over.

"I've put two creams and two sugars, I do hope you'll like it." [Y/n] placed the cup down in front of him.

"Th-thank you!" Inattentively, the soccer player lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip - but immediately winced and almost choked. It wasn't terribly hot but. . . It was bitter.

"O-oh dear, are you alright!?" The waitress had panicked. "I should have warned you, it's quite hot."

"No, it's alright." Hikaru let out a small nervous laugh, but he couldn't help souring his face at the taste. ". . . How does Nosaka-san drink this every day." He mumbled under his breath. He'd expected [Y/n] to get upset, but she actually started laughing.

"I guess you don't like it very much. Don't worry, that's alright." She chimed.

"I'm really sorry-"

"Please don't apologize." With a chocolate box smile, she leaned down beside his ear. "I'll tell you a secret; I actually don't like coffee very much either." The girl admitted, this came as quite a shock to Hikaru.

"You don't-!?" He exclaimed, innocent eyes widening. "But you serve it every day!"

"I know, it's strange isn't it? I prefer tea, but this coffee makes many people so happy. I just enjoy making it for others to enjoy." [Y/n] explained as the blue haired male calmed down. "I'll make you some tea instead, I insist."

"A-alright. Thank you." He decided not to argue, because he'd already decided to leave her a tip - which he'd insist on as well. The smile on his face was still evident even after the girl disappeared behind the counter. He'd finally gotten to speak with her, and he couldn't stop himself from being so blithe.

[Y/n] returned shortly after with a cup of hot chocolate, upon taste testing the drink as per her request, Hikaru let out a content sigh.

"It's perfect, thank you."

"I'm glad." She smiled. "You come here quiet often, I remember your face, but I've never gotten your name."

Hikaru blinked in confusion.

'She remembers me. . . ?'

"I-Ichihoshi Hikaru!" Rather exited, he introduced himself. "It's nice to finally get to speak with you."

"To you as well, Ichihoshi-kun. Please come by again soon." With a bow, the young girl had waved Hikaru goodbye before heading back to work. As she helped the other customers waiting at the counter, the bluenette admired her from afar yet again. More than satisfied with their encounter, he lifted his cup to his lips and took a sip - forgetting this one was full of coffee. Immediately his face twisted.

"Bitter. . ." Hikaru uttered, sliding it aside so he wouldn't make that mistake again. Actually, maybe he'd take it back for Nosaka after finishing his hot chocolate. So the blue haired male continued reading his novel as he glanced at the lovely waitress here and there. When his drink was done, he stood up and left a generous tip behind, along with a slip of paper.

[Y/n] had seen him leave, but unfortunately wasn't able to catch him to say goodbye. She'd rushed to clean off his table, noticing the money left behind. Smiling to herself, she carefully picked up the notes, then finding something underneath.

Here is my number, I will definitely come back to the cafe, but hopefully we can be friends! - Hikaru
