"Come on! Not you too!" He exclaimed. May just laughed harder.

"It's just cute is all!" She laughed.

May covered her mouth in shock as she realized by his expression she had said that out loud. His eyes were widened and his mouth parted slightly as he stared at her incredulously. It only further established to her that he was adorable, but then it registered that he was waiting for her to explain herself.

"Uh... I um... I didn't mean to say that... I was just joking!" She exclaimed before making her eyes wander over everything but him. Taking a risk she quickly glanced his way. His face was turned away from her, slightly red in the cheeks. He looked at her through the corner of his eyes and she snapped her gaze away when their eyes met. Solidad and Harley appearing on the screen saved her from more awkward silence and embarrassment. She just tried to focus on their performance.

Harley's Cacturne kicked off the start of the routine with a bullet seed towards the sky. Solidad's Slowbro then used psychic to stop the attack mid air. Slowbro then began to make patterns out of the bullet seed such as a star and a flower. The bunch of bullet seeds then broke away into a line, swirling around Slowbro and looping towards Cacturne. They then bunched back up above Cacturne. With a strong needle arm, the bullet seeds burst into sparkles raining down on the crowd.

"What a remarkable performance!" Mr. Sukizo said as he gave a score of 10.

"It's clear that both trainers and their Pokemon have an unshakable trust!" Goldenrod City's Nurse Joy said. She scored them a 10 as well.

"What a thrilling performance! I couldn't look away!" Mr. Contesta said as he gave them their third 10.

"A perfect score! Congratulations to Solidad and Harley!" Adrian said as they bowed and headed off the stage.

"Of course," Drew scoffed at the screen.

"Jealous?" She asked playfully. He shot a glare at her. She could tell he didn't have any spite in it, just that he was annoyed with her teasing.

"Well, when you think of it this way, they only got .4 more points than us," she shrugged.

"Yeah, but still, we were so close," he frowned.

"We'll get one eventually, besides, it's not like we need a perfect score to win the contest,"

"True," he sighed as Solidad and Harley entered the room. A few coordinators shot them dirty jealous glares. They either didn't see or didn't care.

"Great job guys! Congrats on the score!" She greeted them.

"Thanks!" Solidad said cheerfully with a smile.

"You kept to your word," Drew said.

"Yes I did," Harley replied with a smirk. There were only a couple more pairs after Harley and Solidad so it wasn't too long before it was announced who would be making it to the next round. Harley and Solidad's picture came up first as they had gotten the highest score. She and Drew followed. They had gotten second which was definitely still good, no matter how pouty Drew was about it because he had wanted to beat them. When the screen changed to the bracket, it was no surprise that they were on opposite sides.

"We better see you on the final stage!" Solidad said.

"We won't lose," Drew challenged.

"We'll see about that," Harley smirked. The tension was high in the air as both pairs set off to prepare. 2 won battles each landed them in the final arena, standing across from each other. The Jumbotron above them flashing close ups of each pair.

"You ready?" Drew asked her.

"I guess," she said hesitantly.

"Hey, look at me," he said as he put a comforting hand on her shoulder. She shyly made eye contact with him.

"We've got this. Let's win, okay?" He said comfortingly as he gave her a rare small and sweet smile. She knew he was trying to help but what he did wasn't good for her heart. Taking a deep breath she tried to clear her mind of her feelings.

"Ladies and gentlemen! The final battle is about to begin! Are you ready?" Adrian asked the crowd. The cheers intensified.

"Okay Slowbro!" Solidad said as she let out her pokemon.

"Come on out Cacturne!" Harley called.

"Blaziken, take the stage!" She exclaimed as she threw out the fire type.

"Roselia, let's go!" Drew smirked as his signature Pokemon appeared.

"Alright! Your five minutes starts... Now!" Adrian announced.

It was an intense battle.

Harley started off with a feint attack towards Roselia. May quickly had Blaziken block with a sky uppercut, landing a direct super effective attack. Solidad and Harley lost some of their points. However, Slowbro had shot a powerful water gun at blaziken. Drew had predicted this though and Roselia already had a counter razor leaf prepared to disperse the water. Solidad and Harley lost a bit more of their points. That's when Solidad smirked.

"Not too bad, you guys," she said as she began her counter attack. With a psychic, Slowbro captured Roselia and began to fling it around in the air. May began her rescue attempt. A flamethrower towards Cacturne kept Harley busy and with a mega kick, Slowbro was hit directly and lost control over Roselia. Blaziken caught Roselia as she fell. She had already been bashed to the floor once from the psychic attack and it was super effective so Roselia was a bit worse for wares.

Both sides lost points, May and Drew just slightly more than Harley and Solidad for Roselia's condition. Of course Solidad had just been testing the waters at first. After that, the battle went back and forth between them.

Slowbro shot a hyper beam which Blaziken and Roselia were fortunate enough to have just barely dodged. Slowbro then was unable to move and Harley and Solidad lost a decent chunk of points as May fought off Harley's Cacturne with a blaze kick and flamethrower to allow Drew to get in a free super effective petal dance on Slowbro who wasn't able to move.

The clock was running out, about a minute left, but it was clear on the board that May and Drew finally had a decent amount of points ahead. Blaziken was trapped by a psychic in the same way as Roselia, but Drew broke its concentration with a razor leaf. Cacturne though got in a feint attack that caused Roselia to stumble back. The buzzer then rang out ending the battle. Before she could even peek at the board, Roselia began to wobble before falling on her back. She had held on with all she had left until it was finally over. Drew ran over to his Pokemon and gently picked her up. May followed his gaze as he looked to the Jumbotron. Somehow they had just barely managed to keep a few more points than Harley and Solidad. She walked towards the center of the field to stand next to him as Harley and Solidad joined.

"Our winners are coordinators May and Drew!" Adrian announced as the crowd cheered loudly.

"Great job guys," Solidad smiled as she and Harley shook their hands and turned to leave the stage. Drew walked a couple paces in front of towards the back, facing away from the crowd to talk and return his Roselia. May couldn't tear her eyes from the Jumbotron that showed their pictures with the winner underneath. She just couldn't believe it, she hadn't ever beaten Solidad before. She always seemed so untouchable as she was a highly talented top coordinator. It seemed Adrian was about to announce for them to receive their ribbons when a horrible and loud cracking sound came from right above her.

Oh my gosh I wanted to die writing this chapter! I couldn't focus well and I kept getting distracted, I think I'm slightly ADD or something. Not to mention, this is also a contest chapter, which are very hard for me, and also require research to see what moves the Pokemon use that they actually use in the anime. I'm sorry if Solidad is out of character, I've never actually seen Battle Frontier so... but I'm slowly making my way through the advanced generation I promise! XD it'll happen eventually.

Also, good news! I have 2 one shots I'm working on! One is a Christmas one, I know late but I got the inspiration when I was about to start writing a New Years one shot so keep an eye out for both of those because if the Christmas one is anything to go by, they're going to be decent sized! Maybe 2-3k words! I'm so excited that I finally have inspiration for not only one, but two one shots so all the people over there will be happy because they have been neglected because of no inspiration for one shot and Platonic sucking up almost all of my creative energy XD.

I really don't want to have to do this but if it gets too much, I may have to take a break because of burnout and winter does bad things to my mental health. I don't want to give in and be lazy though, but I haven't missed a week either since April and I really don't want to go back to my old update schedule of like every three months I post like one thing because that sucks for you guys and also, I can't remember what I'm writing about. Half the time I forget what I wrote about a week ago in the last chapter here so XD. Anyways, sorry for the long rant! Until next time!
