"I'm glad you're my partner," she said. He gently put a hand over one of hers on his stomach, as if touching her would burn. Whether it would burn him or her, he didn't know.
"Me too," he said, glad she wasn't facing him to see the blush that had taken over his face.

May woke up abruptly to a crash. She stuck her head out of her tent curiously to find Drew laying on top of his caved in tent.
"What are you doing?" She asked through laughs. He ran his fingers through his hair exasperatedly and tried to explain the situation with a flushed face.
"I fell," he said stiffly.
"I can see that. How did you fall?" She asked smugly.
"I tripped," he admitted. May roared in laughter.
"Oh this is so rich! You're always the one calling me a klutz yet here you are!"
"It's early. Plus I can't be perfect all the time, then even more people would hate me," he said.
"Uh huh, suuuuuure," she said sarcastically as she offered him a hand up. He begrudgingly took it with a grumble. May helped him take down their camp before continuing on their journey. It had been a couple days since they'd won the Len Town Contest and she was still high off their win.
"Hey Drew?" She asked suddenly.
"What?"
"Before we leave, let's have a battle!" She suggested. He looked confused for a second before lighting up.
"Oh you're so on!" He smirked.
"In that case, Bulbasaur!" May called, sending out the grass type.
"Saur!" Bulbasaur roared proudly.
"Alright then, Quilava, let's see what you can do!" Drew exclaimed as he let out the fiery Pokemon.
"Hey! That's not fair!" She huffed. Drew shrugged.
"Says you!" He grinned.
"Whatever! Bulbasaur, tackle!" She ordered. Bulbasaur took off towards Quilava across the field.
"Dodge with flame wheel!" Quilava took off speeding right past Bulbasaur and circled around to hit directly. She winced as Bulbasaur cried out.
"Razor Leaf!" She exclaimed. Bulbasaur sent a stream of leaves at Quilava.
"Counter with ember!" The embers were able to burn up some of the leaves and hit Bulbasaur, but Quilava was unable to escape all of them and was grazed by a few strays.
"Shake it off and use flame wheel!" Drew said. Quilava shook its head and tore out down the field again.
"Dodge it Bulbasaur!" The Pokemon tried, but it was hit head on with the attack. Bulbasaur fell down and she was having trouble getting up.
"Come on! You can do it!" May encouraged worriedly.
"bulbaaa... SAAAAUUURR!!" Bulbasaur stood back up glowing a bluish white.
"Bulbasaur's evolving!"May beamed. When the light died down, a proud Ivysaur stood opposing Quilava. The fire type seemed up to the challenge.
"Quilava! Ember!"
"Petal dance Ivysaur!"
Both Pokemon were hit by the attacks, the ember not dissipating the petals as much.
"Razor leaf!"
"Another flame wheel!" Drew shouted. Quilava collided with Ivysaur and dust shook up in the clearing. When it settled down, Ivysaur had fainted.
"Quil!" Quilava exclaimed proudly. May returned Ivysaur to her pokeball.
"You're a cheater," May said.
"Well actually, it worked out perfectly because I'd been wanting to see Quilava in action again, and it just so happened you brought out a favorable matchup," he explained.
"Suuuure," she said sarcastically.
"But hey, congratulations on Ivysaur," he said suddenly sweetly, his tone changing quite a bit from a few moments earlier.
"Thanks," she said quietly. With that, they began walking towards Azalea Town.
"That was nice though, just like old times," Drew said. May giggled.
"Those old times weren't that long ago though,"
"I guess it just feels like I've been traveling with you for forever," he smirked.
"Are you suggesting that I'm boring and that's why it feels like you've been traveling with me forever?" She asked angrily.
"Don't be putting words in my mouth. You said it, not me!" He laughed.
"You're such a jerk," she pouted.
"That's because you lost," she stuck out her tongue at him.
"Anyways, what Pokemon do we want to use for the Azalea Town contest?" He asked.
"Hmmm, what about Absol and Eevee?" She suggested. He shrugged.
"Good enough for me,"
"We could do a really cool combo of shadow ball and water pulse!" She said excitedly.
"That's a good idea, maybe a good finishing move for the appeal?" he offered.
"Yeah, I like that!" She agreed. She accidentally brushed shoulders with him in her excitement and she played it off pretending as if she didn't notice. She was screaming of embarrassment on the inside though. Her skin was crawling and tingling, as if it was longing to make contact with him again. She shoved the strange feelings down and continued walking as if nothing had happened. She was surprised that he hadn't said anything to her though but she took the silence gratefully. After a little bit, she dared to look at him and noticed the way his hair hung over his face.
"You need a haircut, you're starting to look emo," she giggled. He looked at her offendedly.
"Excuse me, but I like it long," he said defensively.
"Relax, I'm not telling you to cut it all off! You just need a trim! When we set up camp later-"
"Like you know how to cut guy hair," he scoffed.
"Hey! I'll have you know that I trimmed Max's hair all the time when I was traveling with Ash," she pouted.
"Well good for him, but you still aren't touching my hair," he said stubbornly.
"Just let me try!"
That's how May found herself hovering over him after finishing setting up their camp for the night with a pair of scissors.
"Don't you dare ruin it!" He said anxiously.
"Don't be such a baby, I'm only cutting it so you can see, idiot!" She said as she gently began snipping at his hair in the front. The whole ordeal only lasted a small time of two minutes.
"There! Now see for yourself!" She said, shoving a pocket mirror towards him.
"I can see a bit better," he admitted after a while. She snatched the mirror back from him.
"What did I tell you!?" She said triumphantly.
"Shut up. Night," he said as he sulked into his tent. She rolled her eyes to herself before turning in as well.

-A/N-
Sorry this is a bit late, I had a busy day and I didn't get to work on this until later than I normally do. However, I refused not to be lazy and not post so here's the chapter. The hair thing's a bit weird, but whatever. Also, I'm happy to announce that I've finally figured out exactly how I want the story to end and how I want certain plot points to go. The main plot will start unraveling soon hehehe. Anyways until next time!
