Chapter 11: To Capture a Cyndaquil

"Come on!" Drew exclaimed, grabbing her wrist again and dragged her along. They ran up to Officer Jenny. May started to bend down to help her up, but Jenny reached up and slapped her hand away.
"Please, go after them! I'll catch up!" She ordered them. The two nodded before running after the grunts as they caught the sight of them turning the corner.

May and Drew chased them all the way to the edge of the city as the grunts headed towards route 30.
"It'll be harder to track them once they get in the forest!" May exclaimed to him.
"Don't you think I know that!" He growled at her.
"Oh shut up!" She exclaimed before grabbing a Pokeball from her waistband and threw it as close to the fleeing women as possible. "Blaziken! Block their way and use sky uppercut on the cage!" May instructed as the Pokemon closed in the rest of the distance with its fast speed. Blaziken leaped over the grunts with its fist glowed white before it struck the cage, sending it flying out of one of the women's arms as she screamed in surprise.
Having evolved not long ago, Blaziken was still getting used to its new strength. The cage flew towards May and Drew, but they were too far to catch it. The Cyndaquil squealed in pain and shock as it crashed to the ground. The cage was dented from Blaziken's strike, but it had opened during the impact. The Cyndaquil had barely enough energy to climb out before it collapsed.
"May! You've got to be more careful, this Cyndaquil could have gotten really hurt, more than it is now! You and Blaziken need to figure out the workings of his evolution otherwise someone or something is going to get severely hurt!" Drew yelled at her as he sent out Roselia. The two grunts were quick to recover. They sent out their own Pokemon. One sent out a Raticate, and the other, a Golbat.
"Raticate use super fang!" One called.
"Golbat! Air cutter!" The other one ordered. Then they tried to run at May and Drew to get the Cyndaquil. Blaziken narrowly avoided the super fang, but was pushed back next to Roselia by the air cutter. Both took super effective damage from the attack. Drew quickly picked up the Cyndaquil, but the grunts were persistent, and ignored their Pokemon to start chasing after Drew.
Blaziken! Use blaze kick on the Golbat! Roselia, use magical leaf on the Raticate!" May ordered. Blaziken wasted no time in its attack, but Roselia turned back to look at her confused.
"Look, Drew's in a pinch, help me deal with this and then we can try to help him!" May said to the grass type. Roselia nodded before he let out the attack of leaves, hitting the Raticate on target. However, the opponent Pokemon were still standing. The Raticate went in for a crunch on Roselia.
"Blaziken! Sky uppercut on the Raticate!" May exclaimed as Blaziken sped over and knocked the Raticate up in the air before it could sink it's teeth into Roselia. But an unsuspected wing attack from Golbat sent Roselia flying back, dealing a lot of damage. May ran up and caught Roselia before he could hit the ground.
"Blaze kick!" May ordered as Blaziken flipped around to slam a fiery leg into the bat Pokemon, sending it flying into a tree where it's eyes became swirled in a knockout.
"Are you alright Roselia?" May asked the Pokemon in her arms.
"Rose," he said with a nod. May gently let him go before looking for Drew who was still trying to get away from the two grunts. Luckily, the Officer Jenny and reinforcements arrived at the scene with a frazzled Professor Elm. The Grunts attempted to escape, but were taken into custody.
"Why did you try to capture this Cyndaquil?" Officer Jenny inquired.
"I plead the 5th!" One said.
"I'm sorry what now? Just answer the question!" She frowned.
"Typhlosion is a rare and powerful Pokemon, we were hoping to give it as a gift and rise in rank," the other one admitted. The reluctant one rammed into her companion. The officers were on them in seconds, dragging them away from each other.
"Thank you," Jenny said as she and the others assisted the grunts into a squad car. Professor Elm approached May and Drew, embarrassed.
"Thank you two again for your help with Cyndaquil," he said scratching the back of his neck sheepishly. Cyndaquil lifted its head to look at the Professor weakly.
"Is he okay?" He said, rushing up to Drew.
"Yeah, he just had a pretty bad fall, nothing too bad, Nurse Joy should be able to fix him up pretty easily.
"Excuse me professor, but how did Cyndaquil get captured?" May asked curiously.
"He broke out of his pokeball on Route 29 and came running back towards Cherrygrove. When we got to the outskirts again, some nearby Team Rocket Grunts caught sight of him, and caught him. I am not a very athletic person, and I couldn't catch up, luckily I ran into Officer Jenny, and she ran after them and alerted a squadron and I was escorted with them to where you are," he explained to them.
"I see, what's up with Team Rocket?" Drew asked.
"They've started to grow more active recently, and I don't why. You two be careful on your journey," he told them warningly.
"That's troubling," Drew said, pressing his free hand against his chin in a thoughtful gesture.
"Anyways, I'll be out of your hair, I'm sorry about all the trouble Cyndaquil and I have caused you!" He apologized sincerely. Drew gently handed him the Cyndaquil. It let out a squeak as it was given back to the professor. It began to struggle against his grip.
"Hey you! Quit it!" The professor wrestled with it before it jumped back into Drew's arms.
"Ugh! Cyndaquil! Stop causing problems, let's go back to the lab!" Professor Elm pleaded.
"Cyndaquil!" It shouted in protest before shooting a small ember attack at the professor.
"Ack!" He scrambled to avoid the attack. Brushing his pant legs off, he stood up straight. "I'm sorry, but it seems Cyndaquil wants to go with you," Professor Elm apologized.
"Cyn cyn!" It squeaked in agreement.
"You can't decide these things by yourself Cyndaquil!" He scolded the Pokemon.
"I'll take him," Drew said suddenly, surprising May and the professor.
"Are you sure? He's a lot to handle!" The professor questioned.
"Yes I'm sure," he said with certainty.
"Okay, but if you have too much trouble, you bring him right back, he's caused enough trouble as it is," Professor Elm insisted.
"Sure thing," Drew agreed. The professor handed him Cyndaquil's pokeball. They said their goodbyes and the professor went back into the city.
"Wow, I can't believe you want to be the one responsible for that bundle of energy," May finally said, laughing at him a little bit.
"Well I accepted to travel with you so clearly my head hasn't been on right for the past two weeks," he fired back. She stuck her tongue out at him.
"Anyways, we should get him to the Pokemon Center, but I should return him first so he doesn't run loose," he said before attempting to return Cyndaquil to its pokeball. Stubbornly, Cyndaquil jumped from his arms to on top of his head. It settled in his hair comfortably. May stifled her laughter with her hand. A shadow fell over his face in anger.
"Cyndaquil, get in your pokeball, now," he gritted out menacingly. He tried again and Cyndaquil finally went in with a protestant squeak.
"Have fun with that, at least I don't have a Pokemon that crazy," May laughed at him.
"That Skitty of yours sure is a handful though. That's awful to forget about your Pokemon like that," he said. That shut her up pretty fast.
"Come on, let's get him all fixed up so we can get out of here," he urged her.
"Okay, sure," she said quietly before following him back into Cherrygrove.

-A/N-
Why do I feel like this just keeps getting stupider XD. That's not my intention. I hope Drew was a little meaner. But also, this takes place after the Battle Frontier is over, so he is nicer than he was at the beginning of the advanced generation. I've been researching a lot of stuff to make sure I'm getting things right because, don't hate me, but I never finished the advanced generation. I got up to a little past Mossdeep City, so pretty far along, but it's just something I haven't done, because sometimes, Pokemon is a bit hard to watch, the last time I watched it seriously was the X and Y series when it was airing. Ironically for not being a huge Serena fan, I've seen every episode of that series XD.
Anyways, I've been doing research to make sure everything flows like I'm pretty sure Blaziken evolves at the end of the battle frontier and that's when May and Ash have a contest battle and Drew comes and they have a nice chat about rivals and stuff. Also, May had a Bulbasaur but she kept it with Professor Oak, so it wasn't with her much so it's not going to show up at first. Anyways, I've really been trying to get this right and make it accurate but I still think these past few chapters have been trash fire XD. Anyways, until next time.
