Chapter One: A Cyborg and Her Pokemon.

Disclaimer: I will be putting little Status updates in the beginning and end of the chapters as I play through Platinum. What I am doing is a Nuzlocke of Platinum and I'm turning it into a story since I want to add in little side parts aside from the main story line. And another thing I'd like to add that The Pokemon Cario uses will be shown as Gijinka (or Human) versions of their actual form. That aside... Let's start this thing!!

--Cario's POV--

At this point in my life, I was around 18. I was living with my aunt after my parents were killed in a car crash. I suffered that car crash but not as bad. I had a prosthetic arm put in in place of my real arm that was severed. I also had wires ran everywhere through my body. Some over lapping veins and some simply laying over them. I was something special, to say the least. Sometimes even messing with the wires or tugging on them makes some of my nerves act up but hey, my fault right?

At this time, I was upstairs watching TV. Some program was on going on about Professor Rowan. It was interesting to see what he talked about during the program. The program soon ended and I decided to turn off the TV. I stood up and walked downstairs and greeted my aunt. She was an aged woman who was widowed. My uncle passed some time ago. But she knows how to sustain herself. She has a Pokemon herself, a little Stunky. She calls her Peaches and her scent is more contained now that my aunt has worked with her for many years.

"Going out, dear? Barry was calling for you earlier when you were in the shower." Aunt Cheryl said.

"Oh? I should go see what's up then. He knows I shower at that time." I mumbled to myself, my aunt over hearing it.

I walked over to the coat rack where my coat was hanging along with my boats sitting beside it. "Auntie, I'm heading out," I said to her.

"Okay dear! Just be careful. And don't go into the grass, wild Pokemon might attack you. I mean unless you want to take Peaches with you." She chuckled a bit at that.

Reaching to find my Boot, I only find the one. "Wait, my boot? PEACHES!" I shouted knowing she took my boot again. Yes, again. She likes to play hide and seek with my boot and while it's fun to see where my boot ends up, it is not that fun trying to get it away from her. I sighed before walking upstairs to find my boot laying on the TV with Peaches laying on my bed. "Oh, found it." I looked over at Peaches. "Peaches, I swear if you spray on my bed while I'm gone."

I turned around to sit on my bed just to see Barry in the doorway. "Ah, I'm sorry Cario! But I couldn't wait!!" He said excitedly.

This is something I expect from him. He looked over at my laptop that was sitting on my desk and ran to it. "Hey, is this a new laptop?!" He turned around looking at me losing his train of thought. "Uh... Where was I? Oh right, right! We're going to go see Professor Rowan and get some Pokemon!"

'Correction, see if we could get some' I thought to myself.

"Come on, come on! Get your boot on and let's go! I'll be waiting outside for you! Oh and remember! If you're late, I'm fining you 10 million yen!" And with that, he took off downstairs. ((Since Pokémon is originally a Japanese game I'm using Yen as the currency for this))

I sighed before sitting down and putting my other boot on. I waved goodbye to Peaches and made my way downstairs. I went over to my aunt and hugged her goodbye. "Now you be good, deary." "Yes, ma'am." I replied.

And with that, I headed outside. I walked outside and looked around for Barry but he was nowhere to be seen. I sighed before walking over to his house. Before I could open the door he came running out and bumped into me, knocking me off my feet and on the ground with a thud. "Stupid frail body..." I mumbled. Barry soon helped me up and said "Cario! Hey! I'm going to see Professor Rowan! You should come too! And quickly!" And started to take off before stopped in his tracks. "Oh, jeez! Forgot something!" He walked back inside of his home with me following him inside rather than standing outside waiting for him. By the time I got inside he had already hurried up to his room. I waved to Barry's mom and she smiled at me waving back. I then walked upstairs to see Barry grabbing his things. "I'd better take my Bag and Journal too..." He then noticed me standing in the doorway and looked over at me. "Oh hey, Cario! I'll be waiting on the road!" "Like you said last time..." I commented under my breath. "It's a 10 million yen fine of you're late!" And with that, he ran past me downstairs. Once again, I sighed before following after him.

I walked outside on the road where he said he would be. I walked further up the road seeing Barry standing and looking around outside the town. He saw me and said "Too slow!" He took a few steps closer before continuing. "Alright! Let's get moving to Professor Rowan's lab." He walked over before stopping seeing grass patches. "Barry, don't go into the grass. Wild Pokemon might attack you." I said pointing at the grass before us. "What? Alright! No worries! No problem! It doesn't matter that we don't have any Pokemon." "Yes it does!!" I interrupted. "Trust me on this one. I've got an idea!" "Oh boy..." I sighed. "Now listen. You know how wild Pokemon jump out at you when you go into the tall grass?" I nodded at this. "So, what you do is, you scoot over to the next patch of grass before any wild Pokemon can appear! If we just keep dashing, we can get to Sandgem Town without running into any wild Pokemon!" He turned and looked back at the grass. "Okay, stick with me!" I stepped back off to the side leaning against one of the trees. "Okay, whatever makes you happy." I said as He stepped back to get a running start before saying. "Okay, here goes! On your marks..." He started to take off but before he could make it into the grass a loud voice stopped him in his tracks, I too, jumped at the sound nearly falling over. We both turned around to see Professor Rowan approaching us. He stopped and looked at us before saying, "You two don't seem to have any Pokemon between you? Then, what is the meaning of going into the tall grass?!"

Silence filled the air as neither I nor Barry spoke. Barry turned to me and said, "Hey Cario. This old guy... It's Professor Rowan, isn't it? What's he doing here...?" "Doing research, I assume?" I shrugged. Professor Rowan stepped back turning his back to us. He was probably thinking. "They tried to go into the tall grass because they wanted Pokemon... Hmm... What to do...? Their world would surely change if they were to meet Pokemon... Is it right for me to put them on that path...?" I overheard him thinking aloud. He turned back to us, "You two. You truly love Pokemon, do you?" He asked us both. "Yes sir, of course, I do!" I answered. "Me too! I love Pokemon, too!" Barry answered as well. "I will ask you once again. You two. You truly love Pokemon, do you?" Rowan questioned once more. "What?! You can ask a hundred time! The answer will never change!" "And we'll both answer a hundred times, we love Pokemon!' I chimed in helping Barry out. "Hmm... A pair of reckless teens who foolishly try to enter the tall grass without Pokemon of their own...? It worries me what people like that would do with Pokemon." Rowan said continuing with his train of thoughts. "...Uh... Well, I, uh..." Barry seemed to get at this. He let out a hmpt before saying. "Well, then forget about me, but give a Pokemon to my friend here! I mean, it was me who tried to go into the tall grass and all... She just stayed out of the way!" Rowan looked at Barry with a little amazement. "How big of you... Very well, then! I will entrust you both with a Pokemon! I apologize for putting you through that exercise. However! You must promise me that will never recklessly endanger yourselves again." "Y-yes sir." I shyly answered. "Now, then..." Rowan reached down to his side to grab something but it was nowhere to be found. "Hm? Now, where...?" He continued to look for what he was looking for. Then, a male looking be our age came running after Rowan. "Professor Rowan! You left your briefcase behind at the lake." The boy set the briefcase down on his side before looking up and asking, "Is something wrong here?" Rowan was delighted to see his briefcase. "Ah! There it is! Lucas, nice work! What I was about to do was to entrust these two with their own Pokemon." "Wha...?! Those Pokemon are crucial. You're giving them away?" The so called Lucas seemed taken aback. "Hm! We exist side by side with Pokemon. There comes a when people should meet Pokemon. There is a world that should be explored together. For them, today is that time. The place, right here." Rowan turned back at us and said. "Go on! Open the briefcase and choose a Pokemon!" Barry beamed with joy at this. "Really?! Professor Rowan! I can't believe it! I'm so happy now that I can't even keep a straight face!" Barry turned to me and said "Hey, Cario. You can choose first. Hey, I'm practically a grown up. I have to show some class here." trying to control his excitement. "I mean... If you insist."

I turned over to the briefcase and opened it up. Inside were a few papers and such and three Poke Balls. Not knowing which one to choose, I grabbed the first one on the left. After I grabbed mine, Barry grabbed his saying, "Then, I choose you! I'm picking this Chimchar!" Rowan smiled lightly closing up his briefcase. "Very well! Both of you have chosen a good Pokemon, it seems. Now, listen well! The Pokemon you have been entrusted with are unfamiliar with the world. In that regard, they're much like you. As fellow newcomers to the world, I hope you'll do well together. If you have any trouble, come see me at my lab in Sandgem town. And now, we'll be on our way." Rowan finished what he was saying, he took off towards Sandgem town. Where is lab was, and leaving Lucas behind. "Professor! Wait for me!" He turned and looked at both me and Barry before sorry "Uh, sorry folks." Then walking off to head to Sandgem town as well.

Barry turned to me and said "How do you like that? Professor Rowan's really nice. On TV, he seems so stern and scary. But hey, that doesn't matter. Heheh, Cario! We've both got Pokemon now. There's only one thing to do, right? Are you up for this?" I nodded not knowing what I was getting into, but I didn't want to make Barry disappointed. "I've always wanted to say this... The time has finally come!" Striking a pose, he said. "Cario! I challenge you to a battle!"

And with that, a battle got underway. Barry sent out his Chimchar from its Poke ball and I did the same with my Pokemon, Turtwig. The foe's Chimchar led with Leer and I said "Tackle Turtwig!" To try and do some damage. Turtwig did as he was told and charged at the opposing Chimchar tackling him down to the ground. Chimchar got back up though but quite finished. This went on until Chimchar was knocked out, not even fighting back. I smiled picking up Turtwig saying such things as "You did it! Way to go!" Victory was ours. Barry picked up his Chimchar and held him close to him. "Whew! Come on little buddy, let's go home. I'm beat after that battle. And you need to rest, too." Barry smiled waving goodbye to me. "See ya Cario!"

And thus, I and Turtwig went home. I greeted my aunt with a smile and Turtwig wobbled his way inside. "What's with the smile, dear?" She questioned before seeing Turtwig. "Oh wow! A Pokemon! Where did it come from?" I told Auntie what happened and she seemed kind of amazed. "Wow. That's what happened to you? You and Barry are lucky to have met Professor Rowan. I'd imagine if you didn't... But I wouldn't like to think what the wild Pokemon might have done to you two." Auntie smiled petting Turtwig who was sitting beside her. "Cario, I think you should go see Professor Rowan, and thank him properly for your Pokemon. His lab is in Sandgem town. isn't it?" I nodded. "Now that you have your own Pokemon, the tall grass won't be so threatening." Auntie smiled before pulling a box out from behind her. "Oh, I know! Cario, here. Put there on. They're much more comfortable to run in!" She slid the box over to me and what was inside was a pair of boots fit to run in. "Going to Sandgem town is like an adventure in itself, right? With those running boots, you can get to far away places much faster. But before you go, I suggest you rest for a bit, hm? Maybe even show Peaches your Pokemon! She might like having another Pokemon to play with." I nodded before heading up to my room and laying on my bed. Turtwig soon followed and laid down on the rug in front of my bed.

((Status Update: Turtwig obtained. Game saved.))
